The growth of your KZbin Empire is hugely deserved. So regarding 'Mike' Reminds me of an Exam Moderation meeting I went to back in 2002. I had just run my first Sub 3 marathon and was super proud to display my Sheffield Marathon t-shirt at the meeting. Nice chap who I knew from previous meetings - "Oh you've run a marathon. How did you do" "Oh 2:54.10" I replied with pride. "Not bad. I used to run a lot but was never that good at marathons. 2:35 was the best I ever managed" So I wasn't even the best runner in the AQA Modern World History Paper 2 Team C group 😂
@middleagedrunningman11 ай бұрын
Think I would have had to spit in his face at that point. 2.54 is a quality time. 2.35?? He knew what he was doing. “Prove it.” Would have been a strong response. Good job you were with AQA. If that had been at Ed Excel it would have gone off.

@DrProfX9 ай бұрын
Trust me - on a flat course (e.g., London) you will, at a minimum run 2:59! That’s a minimum! Your half marathon performances are way too superb and predict better than that! Of course, you may need to focus on how you structure your 20-22 mile long runs and have a few sessions where last 10 miles are run at MP or even faster… Not sure what your weekly mileage is, but if it’s 60 (or if it’s 60+ during marathon build up), you’re absolutely going to smash marathon! I say this as someone who’s ran faster marathon than you but way slower half marathons than you! You got the hard part down - speed! Now, it’s just about mileage/volume! 👍🤞

But, bloody hell Tim, where did you park, looked like a half marathon to get to your car 😂 I parked on that "service" road which was just the other side of the main road as you enter into the race course for the finish. 33 years ago that Robin Hood film was released! Bryan Adams camped at No.1 and refusing to leave the premises. Feels like only yesterday you could pay £1.50 for a TDK blank tape (C90) and try to hit record/stop so you only got the music off the radio 1 top 40. Imagine describing that debacle to a youth of today, streaming any song they like with a few taps on their phone 😂

If I’m completely honest, I don’t really understand training, how much, how little, how often, different paces etc. I used to run 6 miles on a Saturday morning relatively quickly, and 13 miles every Sunday a bit slower. I only really started to shave real time off my races when I lost a bit of weight, stopping drinking wine the night before and bought better trainers. But, going to start doing more research on training. Will def do a video on it.
