Warzone has a Pay to Win Problem… and here’s proof

I believe the "buying a pack and playing with lower ranks" thing has been in since bo3/4 and the software program that does this has been found in Activision's paton list a couple years later. The full story: a few years ago people found a program in CoD (that has a paton) that basically when you buy a cosmetic it puts you in lobbies that are full of people without the pack to use you as a walking billboard for that pack. This in turn put you in lower skilled lobbies because the basic/casual players don't buy every single pack where as all the streamers and youtubers would buy almost all packs to use in videos (and possibly as a tax write off), so they become walking billboards and stomp on the weaker players just because Activision wants to sell more packs.

For the bot lobbies thing, as far as I know that's referencing something majorly introduced in Cold War called "Monetized Matchmaking", the idea behind it is to put people who pay for stuff in bad lobbies so that the bad players will be more influenced to buying the stuff the "good" players are using. For reticles you missed the one Holotherm optic that changes the colors of the thermal to have infinitely better target identification, changing from orange and yellow to white and red.

For the first portion of the video, Activision has a patent (a few years old but relevant none the less) that would match players who bought DLC and used DLC weapons with players who didn't buy the DLC, in a way to try and get the target to purchase the DLC to get the weapon. It's very likely this system is still in place.

Well said I’ve been playing warzone for about a year and a half. If someone has a bundled weapon and sucks that alone is enough to give them an advantage. Playing with str8 base weapons on warzone will leave you somewhat limited.

The only thing i think is a bundled weapon advantage is the dark rituals 3 cronen squall that it's sights are better to see ppl, but it's the only thing I'd say, as having faster your load out weapons won't make you better at playing, maybe If you're really good with it it'll make you more consistent with it, but nothing more, as AFAIK all the bundled weapons attachments can be obtained by just playing

Good video, but you forgot one important aspect. Eomm. Aka buff and nerfs of operators. Such as, but not limited to: Damage Hp Hitmarker Aim assist Recoil Flinch Aiming sway Stun and flash lenght time and general effectivness. Enemy audio Changing path of throwing knives Worst case scenario of damage reduce/hp buff is when: - 800 damage dealth to enemies and you dont even break his 2 plates. - 2 x knife hits on enemy that just revived and should be at 5% hp. Worst case of hitregs missing: - exsplosive sniper bullet explode in enemy head instead of travelling past him, there is blood coming from his face and you get 0 hitmarkers. - you beam a guy between shoulder blades from 2m from behind with low recoil gun, but ur first 10 bullets does not get hitmarker. Worst case of stun not working: - Enemy get hit by stun, no perk symbol. But he can move and turn in full speed instant. - stun landing perfect in enemies feets on flat ground, you are behind a riot shield 20m away and you get stunned and not him. Examples of throwing knives changing path: - throwing knife goes into enemy head, while inside enemy head it suddenly exit hid skull on the top and goes straight into the air. - throwing knife bounce of enemy head and into his toe and gives you hitmarker. - throwing knives litterally climbs up enemy shoulder and fall down behind it. - throwing knife goes straight towards enemy but changes path upwards to avoid hitting him. Etc etc, this shit is happening every single game unless you buy battle pass and other store items. First time I bought blackcell battle pass i had 3 days where everything worked perfectly. I got new personal kill record 3 times even though I was rusty. After that it was followed by 1 week of intense skillbased nerfs. I would loose every engagement unless I used a sniper. I would often start by putting 20 bullets in enemy from behind close up, and he would turn around and wiff 3 shots into my knee and i would die. Every single engagement.

I didn’t have any personal experiences/haven’t heard of anyone having these issues with specific operators before but that’s really interesting. I have no doubt there’s a lot of wonky instances of hit reg, equipment not working, etc in the game but I’ve always heard it attributed to skill based hit reg (higher skill = bullets do less). But it would be very interesting to see if paying for items affects this whatsoever

By focusing on letting those who have little time to play and level up guns and cammo theirselves to have a good game. Cause those are more likely to buy a wepon instead of leveling it manually. Because they are usually well settled and means to do so. Im a 36 year old dad myself, playing on a 75inch tv from the sofa on a controller my kid chewed off the grip part of the joystick. Anyway, I played cod since Black ops 1, I quickly feel when things are off. Ps5 easely give me the albility to save such moments, put them in slow motion and see excactly what happens. And so I do. And I see a huge difference between buying the Black cell, and not spending a dime on battle pass. But I know that the joy of not getting nerfed is just for a few days anyway, and there is nothing of interest in this battle pass :å

Blue dot is a preference thing. Dark suits are whatever. Nobody is talking about them because they don’t matter. The boys without “the boys” was stupid. Tuning is another preference. Blueprints are another preference. DMZ bundles matter the least because it doesn’t matter against coward ass 6 man squads. The only thing you have any leg to stand on with is the 15minute cool down. But with contraband. Most of those I have are just as good as your insured slot. In conclusion. To all the streamers….Stop crying. @@Kenny-hy5pj with your 1st insured slot by doing the upgrades missions you can get the cooldown to 30min the 2nd insured slot you can get to an hour and the 3rd to 1 and a half hours if you complete the upgrade missions or tasks. And yes they give 1 operator with the DMZ effect that has a medium backpack and 1 gun with the 15 min cooldown which is the Sakin LMG. If you want more DMZ effectv weapons and operators you gotta spend some money or wait till they add more DMZ ops and items for doing missions. Spend 60$ get a few operators and the gun pack they have for DMZ or do your upgrade missions! Just sayin!

i was a DMZ grinder when it came out. early DMZ is still my favourite extraction shooter; the core gameplay loop was perfect. the mode launched in """beta""" with a bunch of FOMO cosmetics to unlock, a million bugs and lacking things like a reconnect button when one of the aforementioned bugs inevitably booted you from your lobby. it was so unfinished that i couldn't get any of my friends to play it with me, so i ran it solo. i racked up hundreds of hours over the first season or two, pulling all-nighters and playing for 12 hours straight whenever i could. the devs decided to wipe everyone's progress; i thought that i'll keep playing if they're only doing it because DMZ was in beta but i'll quit if they ever do it again. then they proceeded to fix all the helpful bugs in DMZ (some high-tier quests needed 100 of a rare item which you could dupe, for example) while letting the people who had already taken advantage of them get away with it and, more importantly, LEAVING EVERY DETRIMENTAL BUG IN THE GAMEMODE. i kept playing through all this, in the meantime i'd gotten good enough to wipe entire squads by myself semi-frequently. DMZ was a free gamemode so i assumed i was just running into fresh installs but it still felt good to win a 3v1. the nail in the coffin for me was a matchmaking update they did during season 1 reloaded/season 2 - i went from being able to wipe squads on my own to being lasered down by any other player in the lobby. this, the constant 20/30 gigabyte updates and an update to the bot enemies to make them deal more damage finally made DMZ completely unplayable for me as a solo, so i quit. i don't think i'll ever get over just how badly activision butchered my favourite extraction shooter. i genuinely believe it could've become a more casual and frankly more fun alternative to escape from tarkov, but they drove it into the ground so hard that it's now in maintenance mode.

You can actually unlock .300BLK AP rounds by levelling up weapons. I forgot what it is but I know you can because I have them and I haven't bought a bundle for it. Still, don't trust the stat bars on the game, they don't show anything.

I don't understand why Activision isn't usually called out for just the idea of blueprints. They are undoubtedly pay to win, even though they don't usually affect the game as much. Player one uses a level 1 gun, player two has a blueprint for the same gun with attachments that make it better than stock. Player two is in an advantage.

as someone who plays a lot of DMZ the DMZ bonuses are all pretty shit with the exception of the UAV on spawn, thats pretty busted especially since if you know what your doing a UAV can easily make pretty much any fight a win and they're normally fairly hard to get. medium packs, self revives, and all the rest are normally very easy to find, extra operator slots don't really change match to match progress and any decent player can effectively extract regularly enough to the point 15 min cooldowns are pretty pointless.

Bruh, I swear to god I'm going insane with what games are PTW...Team Fight Tactics in League is one of them and I will die on that hill. Didn't win matches while playing a bunch of games with friend, say how it's weird the high value skin players seem to get super lucky meanwhile I couldn't get a good champion to save my life. I quit playing at the end of season 1 when they didn’t give us a DMZ mode that left out other players. As soon as I started hearing about them adding operators that gave them items like that, it just solidified my choice to quit. I have never paid for anything and I tried coming back to the game for a coworker who wanted me to play and absolutely everyone has a pay to win skin and blueprint. We just finished 8 games and none of the 8 did we win not even by a marginal amount, an absolute blowout all 8 games. It’s absolutely atrocious what COD has become. It should be a felony.

I am worried how quickly that skin purchase to lower match making skill or adding bots, was glossed over. Because that is on point with a legit patented game mechanic Ubisoft made. Where game would put realistic bots in place of players but with progressionally more expencive skins. They get you to buy one by showing one in game and killing player with it. Then as that player uses money, they increase value of the skins shown. Why would Activision not do it similarly as giving easier games to show other players that this really good giy is using a cool skin, you can be as good as him if you buy it. And the Buyer gets a temporary ego boost for being good with the gun they used money on, it just seems too easy of a thing to implement and I am 100% sure this is how it works.

i dont play as much warzone i play multiplayer and little bit of dmz at times i dont see any benefits in mp in buying dlc but if your looking for pay to win here are my tips buy the rose bundle you get a free uav every deployment and 15 min cooldown sniper and smg but you have to equip your insurance slots with the 15 min cool down weapons other wise you have to wait 1 to 3 hours depending on which slot you lost to a non 15 min cool down weapon every extra insurance slot adds a hour on top you cant beat a uav in dmz😂

I've bought ever battle pass, spent probably close to a thousand dollars on every bundle and wasted over 46 days of playtime on this game however, it's been unplayable since season 4 on PC. I get a scan and repair crash every 5 minutes. I've done everything from downloading the newest game ready drivers, giving the devs my crash report link and uninstalling and reinstalling the game 6 different times, but it still won't work. I've now gotten used to playing battlefield now and even leveled up 6 of my operators to and several weapons, gear and vehicles to T1. I got an email yesterday saying that the game is fixed save they found the error that was causing thousands of players on PC to crash. So i reinstalled the game and....... It still crashes every 5 minutes. It's not fixed at All!!!

Also I’m sick and tired of them deleting my Data File Packs or whatever they’re called every single time there’s an update…tired of downloading 90+ gigs each time. Bunnyhopping , booty sliding, try hard sweats are bad enough (along with the kids, potties smoking up on the mic and chewing in their mouth. It’s as annoying as those who have their kids screaming, dog barking, wife yelling in the background).

my 2 cents i think the only 2 that are really an issue are the color of skins in the game when it comes to shadows (but there are some you can just unlock that are pretty good at hiding), and the operate perks in dmz ( this is straight up pay2win). But the rest of it ehh, the first one has no backing (which is alight he did preface it with that) and the having powerful weapons or op stuff come out in something you pay for such as a new gun i dont think its fair to call that p2w. Because by that logic any game like WoW, Destiny, ESO, etc. is p2w. But that is just content, its a new thing to go get. On day 1 you pay for what you get in the box, if you find that worth or not is completely up to you. Everything after that is free game, and its not like other guns become completely obsolete i myself avg about 1.7kd with just guns you get through the base game. But if you are losing firefights super consistently its also a skill issue. But i think that also starts leaking into the sbmm system, back in the day you didnt really have that so you would feel more like a god stomping people now you get matched peopel closer to your skill so its easier to point fingers at these things. With that said i still appreciate videos like this because its a slippery slope, and someone has to keep them accountable at least by voicing it. The one that gets me the most is the DMZ stuff out of everything.

They didn't nerf mw guns, simply the news ones were better. And it took them a long time because CW guns only some smgs and the ultra op guns were being used when they first make the integration (m16, dmr, type, aug, ffar), i think it took them until half season 3 or initial season 4 to make a lot of guns of CW viable and better than the mw ones, because the Main problem of early cw guns was how awful they were at range specially the ARs

SBMM has ruined my lobbies. I have clips of AimBot in no kidding 80% of my recent DMZ lobbies. Maybe I’m the most unlucky guy in the world or I’m being punished for getting better. I used to laugh at people when they claim I’m cheating, but now I’m experiencing how rampant it is. The big issue I have with cod is when you buy the game and you don't get a starter pack for buying the game. Or at the very least a really easy XP system so when I join lobbies and the devs nerf basic naked guns you could use the weapon you know is good to rank it up.... Instead of some random weapon. Don't make cod a 9-5 and give players basic attachments so lobbies aren't as painful for the new player joining into lobbies with 100s and 500s lol

As someone with 15 days on DMZ played I did not buy most of the Pay-To-Win bunbles. Trust me i didnt. But Blackcell is fucking ass. I keep telling my friends not to buy Blackcell but all they say "make me" and then I'll "Im going to kill you". But the PTW bundles aren't all that significant. It's not like they're increasing the damage output of the gun. It's just a quality of life thing. That "medium backpack" one isn't that good.

Season 4 Blackcell skin IO changes between white and black. There was a time I chased a then black IO up a staircase, and when I got to the top, he was prone on the floor and had turned white, blending in with the floor. That was the only moment it felt P2W for me.

i got every cash bundle and like 30 cod point bundles.... "my lobbies are the sweatist ever" to quote a random I met in customs. You need to fix your contrast, blacklevels, and brightness bro. The black skins outline and are easier to see then bright ones. Most of the DMZ pay for win you can just get by going to the radiation zone right off the back or do missions for the wallet so you have a fat stack of cash to buy them ingame. The 15 minute cooldown more for bots that dont have a ton of decent contraband weapons they got off operator kills. Just play ranked... never ending gameplay with the same taq 56 loadout for 4*? seasons, so boring.
