TBAG, the difference between a nuke going off in the air or hitting the ground is that an Airburst nuke does more damage to the lifeforms in the area by leaving more radiation. And the nuke hitting the ground does more damage to infrastructure. Just so you know!

11:55 at a guess from the looks of the rifle it's meant to be a Heckler & Koch G11 a non-production prototype assault rifle developed from the late 1960s-1980s. so its the right time period. i think it's the rifle that they tried with a caseless round. here's a general look into what it was "The G11 abandoned the traditional casing idea and fired a 4.73x33mm caseless round, developed by Dynamit-Nobel. This new kind of ammo used propellant chemicals which formed a solid block surrounding the bullet. ... The rifle's caseless ammunition and rotating breech is what achieve these blistering rates of fire". all in all pretty interesting idea for a rifle.

Nukes are wierd and i wouldnt know howd theyd really impact fictional hostiles like zombies. A nuke detonated above ground at roughly 500meters would mean bigger blast and physical destruction, but theres technically less radiation as it burns away and disipates into the air (im taking this info from sources like the infographics show and etc), where as ground detonations, the dirt and debris at the point of detonation become highly irradiated and as the blast scatters the dirt and dust all over, contaminates an area with a larger more persistent amount of radioactive material which can be far deadlier in the long term than the initial blast and etc. The radiation is able to seep into basements and bunkers that arent highly shielded against radiation (again, source is infographics). But that usually is reserved for humans in particular, such as if you wanted to have the highest chance of kills lets say on the mountain bunker thingy for norad or whatever that 1 is featured deep in a mountain on stargate and etc etc. Its very well shielded against radiation but if you directly impact the mountain, you would have a higher chance of structural damage and shielding being weakened to allow a persistent and deadly radition to seep inside and accomplish what the blast couldnt. Its all scifi and whatever detail eyerollers, plus theres no telling what radiation would do to fictional zombies..would it basically poison and kill the virus? Or would it mutate the virus and we end up with superpowered zombies? Your call
