YG Entertainment trainee Ahyeon will no longer be debuting as part of the label’s highly anticipated girl group BABYMONSTER. Earlier today (November 15), South Korean news outlet News1 reported that BABYMONSTER will be debuting as a six-piece rather than a seven-piece with the departure of member/trainee Ahyeon from the group. The report cited “personal reasons” for her withdrawal, and also claimed that Ahyeon may re-join the group’s ranks at a later stage, but will not be present for their debut.
Many fans have speculated what the reasons could be. Some saying Ahyeon may have physical or mental health issues to deal with, while others think it could have something to do with Ahyeon's n-word controversy.

I want to stay with Ahyeon and support her. Let her wishes become true. Nobody knows exactly, what she wants herself. I wish to her happiness and of course i hope, she will share her outstanding talent as a singer, model, performer and even more at stage to the world ! And further, i hope the YG Management thinks and does the same. To be a YG family means to stay with Ahyeon in difficult times too. Just now. Especially now.

The time of when she hasn't been seen with BABYMONSTER is somewhere around late July. With that in mind there could be a couple of reasons that she couldn't debut with BABYMONSTER. So Blways talk about the fact that in their videos it is almost all practical effects and very little use of CG. This means that the artists will have to put themselves sometimes in physical danger. Since they wanted to debut BABYMONSTER in September, it would make sense that they were filming the title track in July. Ahyeon could have been injured during the video shoot and I think that we heard reports in August that they needed to record the title track and shoot the video so they had to delay BABYMONSTER's debut. If this is the case then we know that YG wouldn't want people to know about it since they would receive a lot of backlash for letting a 16 year old get injured and putting her in harms way. I think that they had to find out the severity of the injury since they would need to appear and do promotions for the title track. If Ahyeon hasn't fully recovered or let's say that she had something like a broken bone type of injury they could have possibly pushed the debut till when she recovered and pushed it into next year or debut the 6 members with Ahyeon to join at a later date. The reason that they would make the choice to debut is most likely have to do with BLACKPINK. While it seems that YG secured the group contract, it seems like they haven't secured the individual exclusive contract for all of the members. This technically means that BLACKPINK's future is still up in the air. They need to establish a group that can keep YG relevant so it would probably be better for them to debut BABYMONSTER without Ahyeon and add her back into the lineup at a later date when she is recovered and can move around without restriction (assuming that it was some kind of injury like a broken bone). An injury like this makes more sense given the timeline of what happened so far. If it was vocal then it would be similar to Adele in which she would have recovered in three to four months and would have been able to participate in promotional activities. If it is for mental heath reasons that she is taking a break then it could be more of an indefinite hiatus. She would return when she feels ready to face the negativity and toxicity again. If that is the case then she may never recover and not return to the group but it could also be the that YG decided to debut BABYMONSTER asa a 8 member group. It has been mentioned that she will make her return in early 2024 to BABYMONSTER and if that is true then I would imagine that a physical injust was most likely what happened.

I feel so bad for ahyeon; she's still a kid; sure she made a huge mistake when she said the n-word but that doesn't mean she should be getting hate for it

I agree but she needs to be held accountable for her actions. She said it,she knows what she did and why it was bad so now she needs to apologize so we can move on. However, I do think it's ridiculous how many people are absolutely stomping on her for the situation.

??? its not ridiculous, what she did was bad and she never apologized. No one who is not Black and uses the n-word should be surprised to receive blowback, let alone expect a free pass. It’s one of the most offensive and painful words in the English language. Sometimes, a pass could be granted depending on the context and ahyeon DEINETELY does not bget this pass. You should not be able to say the word because you have never been on both ends of the word. I understand now the N-word has been used in terms of endearment amongst blacks, but non black people will never be able to experience the bad side of this word because they have never been through what black ppl have during this era. If a black person decides they would like to use the word, that is their decision. Black people can say it because we understand the language of our people and have suffered with and endured the same day to day racism that you are subjected to growing up black in America. For all the white kids or non-Black people of color who have the nerve to call each other the N-word in the hallways and sing it with all your favorite rap songs, yet shut your mouths when there is another police brutality against blacks or a killed black boy on the streets. Shame on you. You should have to feel the fear, agony, and depression of something like this. @@Lilo_06

@@hannis_personal_phone Your missing the point. She didn't know what the word meant, she probably had heard it but didn't know the meaning. I am Korean and always thought it was a word to identify a black person, I only learned it a few years ago so I don't think it was her fault. I however do think she should apologize even though she wasn't aware of what she had said. She now knows what she did and said so she should apologize but should explain on her part. For example she could explain why she said it like if sje didn't know the meaning or something. Also, she never was calling someone it,she didn't directly call someone the word so you can't blame her for that-. And fyi I am educated on that stuff so don't try explaining it to me. And why should I feel mad at her? She didn't know what the word meant or anything so all she needs to do is apologize. Y'all get your feelings caught up in this shit to much💀💀

As someone who grew up in Asia then later moved to the west, no one in the east knows much about the n-word and the implications of it. If she was told to perform and memorize the song , she probably did it without realizing the meaning of the N word. Ppl need to move on and stop giving her hate.

No information is the base of rumors. Responsibility of YG. I am happy about the successful debut of babymonster. Congratulation ! With their great skills and charisma, these beautiful girls will make their way to glory. There is no doubt about that at all. But. - What about the unique Ahyeon ? Fans around the world are worried about their health and worried about their future. But YG ? Now that more than 2 weeks have passed without a single word being released about the fate, health and further future of this wonderful girl. I wonder whether the management is aware of the lost opportunities and the loss of image caused by this silence. In my opinion, it is not only unprofessional and irresponsible, but also highly economically damaging. Not to mention destroying the idea of a YG family that supports each other and provides security. In good times and especially in bad times. YG's behavior even casts a shadow over the efforts and success of babymonster's other outstanding artists. Silence means shame! Prolonged silence only means one thing: that the shame will grow. No one will just forget Ahyeon.

YG에 들어간 다는 것은 굉장한 행운이며 축복이죠. 왠만해서는 아무나 못들어간 다는 뜻이기도 하죠. 경제적 이점과 명예를 생각하면 10년만에 같은 또래와 비교하면 중소기업 오너 이상의 값어치를 획득할 수 있다는 것을 감안하면 성공의 지름길이라 할 수 있습니다.

The letter "implies" that she is still in the group and that she just needs time to recover. I think no one is more upset that she's not in the group more then YG. They know her potential and how huge she can be. Truthfully, I really don't think she, YG, and 90% of Koreans give a fuck about the N-word situation. People always excuse Korean and Japanese people using slurs because "it's not part of the culture." Which I find to be a dumb excuse because if I shorten JPN to JAP, I promise you there are going to be people running up to me telling me that's a slur. Or like when Bella Poarch had the Japanese Rising Sun tattoo. People were VERY quick to call her out and say that is an awful thing to have as a tattoo because of it's history. Despite the fact that Japan and Korea are not part of the Wests and America's culture, we always seem to be able to hold US to a higher standard but no one else?? Don't get it twisted, Korea and Japan are VERY familiar with racism, ESPECIALLY against black people. They make fun of our skin, not allow us into their establishments, and stereotype us to high heaven. They are not this "UwU they didn't know any better UwU" innocent that people like to claim. They are not stupid, and I'm tired of people acting like they are and can't be held accountable. But whatever, point is she's not gone bc of the N-Word thing. It's probably something a lot more complicated that you and I won't ever know (like Jini leaving NMIXX.) Give her some time, she'll be back in the group, and everyone will move on.

I am Korean and I hate and despise people who use the N-word. However,in this specific situation I understand her point of view. I personally didn't learn the full meaning of the N-word until I was about 13-14 (I am 17 now) and thought it was a word that helped identify black people. I do think she may have not known the actual meaning (just like I didnt) and probably used it without understanding her lyrics. However, although I think this I do think she should be held accountable for her actions and she should apologise, whether or not she knew what she was saying doesn't matter,it happened and now she's aware of what she said and why it was wrong so she needs to apologize for it.

@@hannis_personal_phone Doesn't matter if she's fluent in English. Being fluent in a language doesn't mean you know the meaning of every word. Korean is my native language and it took me years to learn the proper meaning of a lot of racist words or curse words and I to this day still don't know the meaning of every word and probably won't ever. And as I said, she probably didn't fully understand what she was saying and said it without knowing the meaning of it, it doesn't make it okay but it shows you the reason behind her saying it. She wasn't directly saying it to anyone,so idk why your even worried about that. She wasn't disrespecting anyone neither. Yes,she should apologize now and hopefully she does but you cant keep saying that. You gotta find reasoning behind these situations before you make assumptions.
