Appreciate the honesty and objectivity in the analysis and personal reflection. Fans need some self awareness. The whole world is laughing at you for wanting your team to lose. Ange's comment yesterday shows that he needs to surgically remove some aspects of this cancerous mindset which is holding the club back. He is a football fan, first and foremost. He gets why but just think it's very unproductive to ever behave the way the fans did this week. It's a small club mindset. That was one and only point.

"If you go by what Ange himself has said, this is a game that is OK to lose." This is 100% wrong. You're listening only to the top 4 isn't a trophy bit, not the incessant calls from Ange to develop a winning mentality, a winning team, to test yourselves against the best, to play for the shirt, to develop a winning culture. Ange has been laser focused on us improving and buying into being a winning, aggressive club and talks about it every press conference. So cheering for the opposition, or wanting to lie down and lose on purpose is completely counter to the message Ange has been giving every week for the whole season.

Hey guys, thanks for the Podcast. Perhaps I can help shed some light with Ange's view as an Aussie and a migrant living not too far away from where Ange grew up. I hope you find the time to read what I will say. There is a big culture in Australia of a never give up attitude and winning mentality. This tradition is long, I would say when the Anzac soldiers stormed Gallipoli back in WW1 can help explain this. Thousands of young men charging to almost certain death. This day is remembered as a public holiday and a big part of who we are today. A never say die attitude regardless of the odds. Additionally growing up as a migrant would have been tough, he would have been called horrible names and singled out for playing 'wogball' as it was called then. But he would have developed resilience throughout this upbringing. There was an interview with Craig Foster (Ex EPL and national team player) who called out Ange in national TV for failing to qualify the under 20's. So he has been humiliated on national TV and had to start from the basement again. It's literally in his DNA to never give up, it just doesn't compute to us. There is rivalry here but AFL, Rugby fans etc but there is also no deep hatred, there is no relegation as well at the top levels but a draft system. A number of years ago an AFL team tanked a couple of results to get better draft picks and it was a big outrage. We will never understand the hatred people have as we didn't grow up with it on a daily basis. But I think it's important to note why he has this certain mentality and way of playing. I hope this helps.

I am a Celtic supporter. I think you would acknowledge our historic and bitter rivalry with Rangers. However that would never extend to trying to lose to prevent them from winning the title if we had a chance to also play Champions League. What amazes me is the lack of burning desire to get into the Champions League. It’s a huge motivator for both Celtic and Rangers as European nights are the very best tests and footballing atmospheres of all. To hear that you are happy with the 2nd tier Europa League is beyond belief. I started following Spurs because of Ange but no longer. I will not be surprised if he leaves as he considers the support base a vital ingredient of winning on the field. You will rue the day as he was a joy when he was at Celtic!

I don’t at all agree with DJ that this is a really rare event. United played Arsenal and beating them would have meant practically handing city the title, and whilst it brought a silver lining to the loss no fans wanted the club to lose or throw the game. It’s simply small club mentality, it’s the reason why the Scots have ‘anyone but England’ as it gives them something to do when they don’t qualify themselves. Ange is right to demand more and you all feel guilty for letting him down. At least a few of you had a epipanies maybe it’s time to stop thinking like fans of a small club.

So well said Stu regarding the Ange/Van De Ven comments! You bring an even better point, we often as fans think Ange should do this and do that, but we don't know what is happening day to day in the club with players and their conversations. We trust Ange and yes he hasn't been found out, as we saw yesterday with that different tweak in the set up. I must also say, I love your show Gents and I always look forward to your weekly release but over the last few days, there has been some awful behaviour from so called 'Spurs' fans prior to the City game and for me, if you have a rivalry, the best outcome is to outperform them and always have a winning mentality, which right now and moving forward is so important and that's why Ange is the right manager for our club and has been since the day he arrived.

He grew up in Melbourne, home to some of oldest football teams (AFL) in the world that have existed since from 1858 onwards. There are intense rivalries between teams and supporters, but there is no way in the world those fans would consider barracking against their team winning to get one over a rival. Its not in the culture in any sport here. You had a chance, all be it a slim one, to play Champions league football but were more interested in losing to get one over Arsenal. If any of these warriors (hic) thought that this sick display would in any way be "driving" the team forward and onward, you are very mistaken. The irony is...AFC can still win the title.....sport is never a foregone conclusion - that's what makes it so addictive.....I was at the ground and was 100% committed to us winning....a victory that would bring us the chance of UCL and importantly give the club a wonderful boost of self-belief for next season...that first half was full of authority - Pep was worried....losing Ange now would be catastrophic.....can't wait for 24/25...COYS

I’m sorry, guys, as much as I admire your podcast and your measured views, the culture and mean level of values in the club - supporters and insiders, especially staff - is just fundamentally alienating for reasonable fans of quality football. Puerile, foolish, self-defeating behaviour. You are simply not going to get a better manager than Ange, and he is now one f@ckwit away from resigning. We saw it with the Socceroos in 2017. I hope the club and the fan base get behind him unambiguously and unflinchingly in the next weeks. If not, he’ll be gone by end July.

I think Champions League was lost with the recent losses, and there was no guarantee a win would get them there. Aston Villa may well beat Palace which makes it irrelevant. I am quite happy for Spurs to play Europa League considering the doom and gloom at the start of the season when Kane left. A successful first season for Ange in reality. BTW, Spurs haven't been below Arsenal always. Last season was the first time Arsenal have been higher than 5th for 7 seasons, and the first time higher than Spurs in that period.

Disappointed with DJ here. Ange never said “The external foundations are fragile”. You’ve conflated answers to two different questions to make it sound like Ange is calling the supporters fragile. He’s talking about the foundations of what he’s building within the team. Given what has come out, he’s talking about mentality of the support staff he’s put together. If the support staff are joking about losing then that makes the winning mentality he’s trying to instill within the team understandably fragile. No doubt he would have been disappointed with some of the fans behaviour but saying the fragile comment was targeted at the fans will only breed toxicity

I think the last few weeks Ange has been frustrated by the results and performance of some players. Then the last few days he has seen and heard the talk about throwing the game, so Arsenal do not win the league. During the game he is witnessing the appalling display by Spurs supporters celebrating Man City goals and singing songs about Arsenal. He then walks into a press conference his head spinning and vents his anger. He didn't handle the moment well and said the first thing that came to mind. He obviously needed some time to digest his thoughts so he could respond better to the questions. That display by the Spurs supporters was crazy, whack on caps with the slogan "Make America Great Again" and you had a Trump rally, that is a bunch of mindless idiots.

'Was Ange right or wrong in his explosive interview?' -- my thoughts. He's flat out wrong. 1. Fans don't determine what happens on the pitch. They didn't when not being there during lockdowns. Juventus dominated an era when playing at the Delle Alpi, despite nobody in Turin liking the place, or appreciating the travel required every game. The stadium was empty unless playing Inter, Roma & Milan - and of course against European giants in the Champions League at the time. 2. We need to stop feeling the need to explain ourselves. The entire media is filled with Gooners and Red Army ex-pros. It's not up to them how Spurs fans should feel. Tbh, the narratives constantly thrown out against Spurs, are tedious. And what's all this nonsense from Gooners saying they wouldn't do the same? Erm, yeah, course you wouldn't mate. They were doing it every season we were above them? Why are we feeling the need to explain ourselves to these bitters? 3. We've been in relegation form. If Ange wanted all out performance and a win, he should have tried the previous five games, instead of leaving it till the one game where it effectively hands the title to Arsenal, then blame us. I go back to number one. Did Spurs fans mentality make the team lose all those previous games? Nah. the team were cheered regardless of how poor it was and they still blew it. So much for mentality needing to come from the fans. 4. He kept picking players out of form, going 2-3 nil down in 1st halves, then changing it, because he kept giving these players the chance when they were making us lose. I know we've had injuries, but the constant mistakes also comes from 'the mentality' managers put out there too. 'if players make a mistake and ya did ya best and what I told you to do, then it's fine by me'. Maybe that's why we've got a team who makes mistakes every week, effectively making Champs League out of our reach? 5. I chose 5th place (needing a draw to Sheff Utd), not helping Arsenal and not pinning everything on Villa losing their last game and us winning. There's no gtee. I dunno what the hell Ange is thinking. If he doesn't wise up, he might end up not finishing fifth and that will be on him not setting up right for a draw to Sheff Utd, who will park the bus and look to break anyway. So set up for it. Don't do what we always do and get beat, looking rubbish and then talk about the fan's mentality. These managers are too busy passing blame to fans and insinuating it's my fault the team are generally hopeless, because I want Arsenal to lose. Who believes this turd? It's nonsense. haha.. anyway.. said my bit. 6. I am happy City ended up winning and I won't ever apologise for it. This season would truly be hopeless if we'd paved the way for Arsenal and I can't believe Ange doesn't see it that way. UP THE SPURS!
