thank you again. I had no idea the site was so huge.... I watched your video and every time you mentioned a location I went to google map and marked it as ''want to go''... Then I went down the rabbit hole.....and kept exploring around.... My goodness, every village/town has so many menhirs and monuments around.....it just keeps going further and further.... It's breathtaking....

I spent a couple of weeks exploring the area twenty years ago. Whatever the Carnac alignments were intended for, the entire installation took a perverse amount of work to get done. Very impressive place.

Very true! The ancients definitely thought it was important!

From the information available now, I agree with you. I think the megalithic cultures were only loosely connected. Great video, as always. Thanks Laura!

I've heard there is a connection to stone and wooden structures in north Germany, the baltic coast and going down to Bohemia. Because this area of Europe is so heavily plowed and developed most of these monuments have been erased. Note that the best preserved megalithic sights in Britain, France and Spain are in generally agriculturally marginal areas and would have likely been much more extensively spread over the landscape but for later agriculture. You should look more into the German henges etc. and I'd love to see a video on this.

I shall have a look into it! Do you have links to any papers at all? I speak German so either language is fine if you come across anything interesting. Thanks for the suggestions!

Considering the amount of effort it took to raise these monuments, you really have to wonder what the impetus was for the people to build them. Did something happen in their lives that drove them to it? It wasn't something they threw together on their day off.

hi, Laura! all megalithic structures required huge amounts of thought and muscle to construct. there must have been some practical use. of course, religion can account for some, but, not all. that 20 meter menhir is absolutely amazing! the ability to erect such large stones is incredible! those folks had so much more going on than we can imagine. perhaps, they were just showing off. "look what we can do! better not mess with us!" great info, darlin! thanks!

20 meters! Even when I visit ones of 6 meters they are something else! Those ancients were industrious that’s for sure. But I guess they didn’t have KZbin to watch 😂

Sorry I missed your premier. I was overtaken by events. Interesting stuff. I keep thinking that the builders must have seen some practicality in all that work. Religious efforts can work up to a point. But in the end what was the pay off? It’s hard to see. Maybe it was keeping up with the Jones? No clue. Fox out.

I always wonder this! Perhaps there was a deeply practical function that we are missing.

Carnac, France, Karnak, Eqypt? The letter K isn't used in Italian, but is in French.
