“Alexander's association with two horns and with the building of the gate against Gog and Magog occurs much earlier than the Qur’an, and persists in the beliefs of all three of these religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.” [Rebecca Edwards in an address to the American Philological Association, 133rd Annual Meeting Program (Philadelphia, January 5, 2002)].

Compired to alexander and cyrus Cyrus the great first king of the persian empire has some similarities with Quranic Dulqarnain. Because cyrus was the king who release the banu Israels who believed one God from Babylonian pagan king. Cyrus also said to be a believer of one God But after the mecedonian attack on persian empire by Alexander the great persian monotheistic religion mixed with pagan religions of Alexander's army. Aristotle believed in God whom he referred to as the Unmoved mover or unactualized actualizer which is very similar to the Monotheistic/Islamic concept of God, Infact the kalam and Falsafa traditions within Islamic use arguments primarily given by Aristotle to prove the existence of God . Aristotle and his grandteacher and teacher Socrates and Plato respectively rejected the concept of pagan gods . Atmost these pagan gods were not seen as The God like Allah or the Creator, there were closer to some supernatural creatures such as Angels , and even Aristotle never identified his concept of unactualized actualizer or unmoved mover to these pagan gods. And Iskandar Alaihissalaam( Alexander the Great) followed his teacher in this regard and believed in a concept closer to that of Monotheistic God, Iskandar Alaihissalaam was a seeker of knowledge , conquered wast lands as the Quran states and he was Just ruler very similar to The character of Dhul Qarnayn Alaihissalaam.

@AshrafAnam 2 жыл бұрын
@@patrickngunjiri5340 Allah = God in Arabic. It's not a name. Nowhere in the Quran or the Hadiths is Yahweh the name of God. God has no personal name. He has many attributes and people call him by many of these attributive names. "Yahweh" ("He is") was just one way God was called among the Children of Israel, that's it. "Ahura Mazda" ("Wise Lord") may be the name the Persians used [And FIY, Zoroastrians DO NOT use idols or icons to worship Ahura Mazda]. "Zeus" in Greek literally means "God" as it was originally the Ionian pronunciation of _Dios_ . _Iupiter_ (Jupiter) of the Romans comes from * _djous patēr_ ("Heavenly father"). According to Islamic worldview, polytheism, henotheism and idolatry evolved from the concept of _shirk_ ( _shituf_ in Judaism) , which is the "association of partners to God in worship" meaning imagining deities and worshiping them in addition to God. Most pagan pantheons evolved from this and idols emerged when the worshipers gave form to their imaginations in the shape of physical cult images. If you have ever read the Quran, you'd know that in the Quranic worldview, every nation, except off course the total unbelievers (such as atheists) among them, worships God. Prophets and apostles are sent to them as guide and warners when they are either associating partners with Him in worship or prioritizing the material worldly life over Him (disobeying His commandments, indulging in sins, doing injustice, etc). The Christian belief in trinity is criticized in the Quran because it is them associating the Christ (as well as the Holy Spirit) as partner to God in worship. Jews also criticize Christians for the same thing but they are lot harsher, considering them straight up idolators while the Quran is more lenient and asks them to stop immediately and correct themselves.

@@AshrafAnam in Hebrew the equivalent for God is elohim even those who worshipped false gods the bible calls them elohim since elohim means God or gods.....Yahweh is God's personal name not an attribute ( psalms 83:18, exodus 6:3) God could be anything or anybody according to one's belief...but the true God identified himself as yahweh and that was his name....and ofcourse every name has a meaning that doesn't mean it's ceases to be a name...every Hebrew name had a meaning that does not mean it was an attribute of a person but rather the name and identification of a person.... God is a title not a name even to some people satan is God to them...the prophets worshipped yahweh and that's Yahweh is used around 7000 times in Hebrew scriptures (old testament)
@AshrafAnam
@AshrafAnam 2 жыл бұрын
@@patrickngunjiri5340 No. God doesn't have any personal name. He is beyond names. And if God has a name, why should it be in Hebrew? Why not in Sumerian, the language of the first civilization? The name "Yahweh" was peculiar to the Israelites. No other nation before or after ever used it. Yes, Elohim can mean both God (considering it as the plural of excellence) or gods (considering it as the numerical plural). Unlike Syriac/Aramaic (ܐܠܗܐ) _ʼĔlāhā_ /_Alâhâ_ (which is the emphatic form of _elāh_ "diety, god") or Arabic (الله) _Allāh_ (which is the definite form of _ilāh_ "diety, god"), Hebrew doesn't have an emphatic or definite form of "eloh" (deity, god) to use to refer to God, thus the plural "elohim" was employed.

Simply put the answer here, the Oghuz Turks were the army of Dhul-Qarnain, who himself was also considered as being the legendary commander of the Turks themselves, Oghuz Kagan. The lienage of the Oghuz Turks date back to Japhets, the son of the Prophet Noah. The archaic sources of the pre-Islamic Turkish history as well as medieval and Ottoman chronicles indicate that Oghuz Khan was the person who was mentioned in the Holy Quran as the sublime commander, Dhul-Qarnain. Gökturk monuments tell about Oghuz Kagan's (he was mentioned as Bilge Kagan on the inscriptions , as the wise ruler) voyages to east and west as well as from north to south, a narration that absolutely shows similarities with the Surah al-Qahf (18) in Quran, where the story of Dhul-Qarnain was given at the end of the chapter. See also historiographies about Oghuz Kagan' identification with Dhul-Qarnain a.s. in Mahmud of Kasghari, Divan-ı Lügati't-Türk, or in Rashiduddin Fazlullah‐ı Hamadani's Camiu't Tevarih. These are several most authentic sources about Oghuz Khan's legendary personality in the early ages. Ottoman chronicles, e.g. Sheik ul-Islam Vani Mehmed Efendi and some other sources also interpretate Dhul-Qarnain's historical personality as Oghuz Kagan. Some contemporary authors also admit the fact and wrote about Oghuz Khan's histories. (e.g. Oghuz Khan the Great: The Might King Who Governed Asia, Europe and Africa) So to speak, Oghuz Turks were the soldiers of Dhul-Qarnain, who conquered the whole world and locked Gog and Magog in between two mountains. That's why, since the age of Oghuz Khan, the traditional crafthood of Turks was considered as iron-forging and blacksmithing, which helped the proto-Turks to have melted iron mountains in order to dispose from the Chinese captivity, according to well-known Turkish epos or saga, Ergenekon. In brief, Dhul-Qarnain a.s. was not a homosexual Alexander the Great or the heretic Persian king Cyrus the Great, but Oghuz Kagan himself, who was also considered as the Prophet sent to the Turks in centuries-old oral history and popular culture narratives, especially in the Asian steppes. Greetings to all fellow Muslim people around the world from Turkey, a country which is the direct descendant of the Oghuz Turks, together with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan...

Peace be upon Alexander Dhul Qarnayn, the monotheist conqueror chosen by Allah. “After the death of Darius, Alexander [the Great] annexed the empire of Darius to his own kingdom, and ruled Iraq, Asia Minor, al-Rum, Syria, and Egypt. Following the death of Darius, he reviewed his army; it is said that he found the army to consist of 1,400,000 men; of these 800,000 were of his own force, and 600,000 were from the (old) force of Darius. It is reported that on the day he ascended the throne (as king of Persia) he said, "ALLAH granted us triumph over Darius and granted us the opposite of Darius's threats.” Alexander destroyed the cities, fortresses, and fire temples of the Persians. He slew their priests, and he burned their books and the archives of Darius. Appointing some of his aides as governors over the empire of Darius, he marched on toward India where he slew its king and conquered its capital.” [Al-Tabari’s Tarikh, The Account of Darius [Dara] the Elder and His Son Darius the Younger. The two horned ram of the book of Daniel is not Cyrus, but the Medo-Persian kingdom ( the small horn for the Medo kings the big one for the Persian kings). The goat is the kingdom of Greeks, the big horn is the first king, that means Alexander. The great king of the book of Daniel is a Greek king, Alexander, as usually thought. The two-horned was said for the horns of Amun used by Alexander. Cyrus died in battle against the Scythes. It's really funny to try to separate Aristotle from Islam when Aristotle was a major figure in Islamic thought. You know that Islam conquered the Eastern Roman empire and has the exact same Graco Roman foundation and that's why it would say that this two horned guy was Alexander the Great because Alexander the Great was the two horned guy. The other two horned guys Moses and that's not who the Quran is talking about I mean just like the way that the Quran says that Jesus and the apostles were devout muslims, don't you understand that like those people weren't calling themselves that. It doesn't matter both things could be true

It is not a legend. Is an hadit of al Tabari! If Mohammed was interrogated about someone that lived in the past, as DhulQarnain was for Mohammed, and the Islam started with Mohammed, how can DhulQarnain be an Islamic king, if there was no Islam before Mohammed?! It is illogical! Usually many think that the Islamic legend of DhulQarnain was based on the Hebrew and Christian version of the Alexander's Romance. The one known also by the prophet. But it is only one of the theories.

@Kuffar punisher Are you talking to me? Well, you can believe all of that, that is fine. There are plenty of sources that clearly show that Alexander was a Greek Pagan and sacrificed to Zeus and many of the other Greek God's. The sources about that are overwhelming. If anything, Alexander's conquests actually helped Christianity grow indirectly since the New Testament was written in the Greek Language, which all scholars agreed at the time was the most spoken language in the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the most Richest Language of the time that had a wide vocabulary of words to describe Metaphysics, the Soul, and other deep Philosophical & Religious topics. And yes, there is the account of Josephus about Alexander going to Jerusalem, but there is no mention of that anywhere else in historical sources. Here he is being shown the Prophecy of Daniel: «δειχθείσης δ᾽ αὐτῷ τῆς Δανιήλου βίβλου, ἐν ᾗ τινα τῶν Ἑλλήνων καταλύσειν τὴν Περσῶν ἀρχὴν ἐδήλου, νομίσας αὐτὸς εἶναι ὁ σημαινόμενος»... -Ιώσηπος Φλάβιος [Ἰουδαϊκή ἀρχαιολογία 11.8.5] "And when the Book of Daniel was showed him wherein Daniel declared that one of the Greeks should destroy the empire of the Persians, he [Alexander] supposed that himself was the person intended." -Josephus [Antiquities of the Jews 11.8.5] www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0146%3Abook%3D11%3Awhiston%20chapter%3D8%3Awhiston%20section%3D5 The Jews believed this story to be true however, and there was even a Mosaic discovered in Israel depicting the scene, although we cannot know for sure if Alexander even stepped foot in Jerusalem. His Successors known as the Diadochi certainly did however, and even were the cause for the Maccabean Wars, again from Josephus. Interesting topic for sure. Those Greeks really did a lot!

Dhul Qurnayn story is a plagarised from ‘A CHRISTIAN LEGEND CONCERNING ALEXANDER’ which was circulating as a Syriac work during the 6th and 7th centuries and describes Alexander travelling to a part of the world where he sees sun setting in a muddy pool and defeating the tribes of Gog and Magog and building an Iron wall. The story is exactly the same as found in the Quran. According to the Quran Alexander the Great was a Muslim which is so ridiculous to the point of being laughable. Alexander the Great was a devout Greek pagan and not a monotheist. The Dhul Qurnayn story found in the Quran is false

@@xllab1 Oh Sure...here are the sources. Let me know if you need anything else: Evidence that Dhul Qurnayn is Alexander: The Dhul Qurnayn story is derived and plagarised from popular myths regarding Alexander that were floating around in Arabia. Please refer to this from Page 150 onwards: archive.org/details/bub_gb__14LmFqhc8QC/page/n265 In this myth, Alexander the great is doing the same things that Dhul Qurnayn is doing in the Quran. Even pre-islamic poets referred to Alexander as Dhul Qurnyan It is obvious after reading this that Muhammad simply had heard this mythical story about Alexander which he assumed to be a historic fact and decided to tell this story to them as a divine revelation thus clearly showing that the Quran is simply a book of myths and fables and is handiwork of 7th century folks.

@@siddave549 LOL. Idiotic research, kid. The Syriac Legend of Alexander is dated to 629/630 AD. The Quranic verses of _Dhou al-Qarnayn_ were revealed before 622 AD, the year of the Hegira. The author of the Syriac Legend of Alexander conflated the separate account of _Dhou al-Qarnayn_ , already known among Jews and Middle Eastern Christians (the reason why the Jews of Medina told the Meccan pagans to ask the Prophet Mohammad about it to test his knowledge of accounts only known to followers of the Biblical tradition), with his translation of the Greek Alexander Romances. _Dhou al-Qarnayn_ was already a known figure in the Middle East who built the gates in the Caucasus pass to prevent the tribes of Gog and Magog, and what the Syriac author did was identify him with Alexander and hence he added the account of _Dhou al-Qarnayn_ with his translation of the Greek Alexander romances. It's quite obvious.
@AshrafAnam
@AshrafAnam 2 жыл бұрын
@@budekins542 He assumed nothing. He never identified anyone with _Dhou al-Qarnayn_ . All of the accounts found in Surah al-Kahf of the Quran, including the account commonly known under the title of Seven Sleepers, are meant for guidance, teaching of spiritual dimensions of the religion and eschatological symbolism. These accounts are separate from the accounts of prophets and apostles such as Moses or Salih.
