I haven't read the comments deliberately but I feel like Cathy's boyfriend found out about her illicit relationship and threatened her. She called Paul saying she wanted to meet (possibly for them to run away together, or because she felt so threatened by her original boyfriend) The original boyfriend found out about her contacting him, he killed Cathy and then planted the evidence in Paul's vicinity to make it seem like he did it. Great video, lots of questions left unanswered

Sooo... he is a suspect because the car was found on his property? I mean that’s a given, if it was him, he wouldn’t put in on his yard. He’d put it far away. He wouldn’t pin the murder on himself. The blood in his house... my house would have blood in many places because I cut myself or other normal reasons. Body language? If I was in that position, I would “lie” about my name and birthday and my eye color. I get extremely nervous and my body language shows. Anyone being charged with murder would have crazy body language. He was wrongfully charged, absolutely. Even if he did do it, there simply isn’t the evidence to charge him.
@sincityraiders24409 ай бұрын
Are you kidding he burned the vehicle. In his property. He tried calling other women to his property. Blood was found in his living room. He ripped the carpet off claiming it had stains and odors. His girlfriend said she never saw such stains. He tried getting her to make phone calls claiming she was Cathy .

Thank you Caitlin. Great video. I really have so many questions on this one. What was Paul’s mental state? If they thought the car had been burned elsewhere, was a search done to find where the car had been originally burned? Did anyone go to the Diner where the report came in that she has been spotted? Did they check at least if one of the waitresses had quit just after the day the couple thought they recognized her? Was there any evidence at all ever to suggest anyone else might have had involvement? I could go on. In my opinion, it really seems like authorities focused on Paul and were determined to make everything fit the narrative they had decided on. It seems much of the testimony given against Paul was at the very least, questionable, and all of the other evidence circumstantial - aside from the rather damning letter. Certainly Paul seems to have done everything possible to incriminate himself. So much so that it stretches credulity, and made himself the only suspect they needed because he did everything but leave bloody footsteps leading to his door. And yet, I got an uneasy feeling when you mentioned the boyfriend went out looking for her and found her burned up car. Something is off here and I can’t quite put my finger on it. Could the boyfriend have found her out, killed her, burned the car and planted it near Paul’s trailer? Then went out “looking” for it when he couldn’t believe the authorities hadn’t found it right where he left it? Can’t really say because it doesn’t appear authorities investigated any other possibilities due to the comically obvious clues Paul left for them. It could also just be the simplest solution, that Paul did it and just got caught because he’s not very smart. No body, she could technically still be out there. Who can say ?

This is literally the case of my great aunt her brother gary ford is my grandfather this is very upsetting it's also pronounced mare-land not maryland... This case is so upsetting to my family that we pay tribute to her every family reunion and my pap believes that after the cop killed his sister which there was evidence he did that he dropped her in one of the abandoned mine shafts and there are many of those around and if her body was in one you wouldn't find it they can be up to 800ft deep

I grew up about 45 mins from where this happened. My grandma has talked to me about this case since I was in my teens. She thinks her body was dumped in one of the mine shafts up that way she said if she was the chances of her being found were very slim. However, on the Unsolved Mysteries episode at the end it talks about a couple vacationing and swearing they saw her and immediately recognized her and the woman saw them and walked out quickly. Bizarre. It would be weird for someone to murder someone and then leave the vehicle on his own property. This just does not make sense. I am so torn on whether or not she is still alive but I feel like the fact that she has never returned or reached out to her family makes me lean more towards her being gone. Just want to say I wrote this out before watching the video

There's something off about this case - and fascinating. The fact they charged him with kidnapping with no body or evidence. Why would a Deputy Sheriff who just killed a woman leave her burning car near his trailer and not clean up all the blood perfectly when he had the time to do so? And would know how to? Also, it seems like a stupid frantic move to send the letter to the parents, not calculated more a person freaking out cause something doesn't look good so they come up with a stupid idea. He would know how guilty that would make him look again Deputy Sheriff here! It seems to me like someone put enough evidence that could get him convicted, the car the small spots of female blood. It was probably either Cathy's boyfriend or Pauls girlfriend had something to do with it. She could have run away I just..that would be really cold of her to run away as that would be mean she either just let this guy go to jail for her murder or she set him up and went all Gone Girl which again she would have to be really cold to let this happen to Paul. Of course, it could be because he was a Deputy Sheriff he thought no would think he would leave all these things behind because he should have been smarter than that so they would look into him being framed as a real and true possibility. However, I think that would be a way too risky a plan and it sounds like he sadly was framed. It's so sad if she was murdered whoever killed her is just walking free probably still acting as if Paul did it. Hope one day somehow they find new evidence to point to what really happened.

To me murders always come down to motive. I think mostly the boyfriend killed her and framed Ferrell as revenge for their secret trysts. I think if Kathy was alive then when she heard Ferrell was going to be convicted she would have come forward and revealed she had just run away etc. I don't get why the police would overlook the boyfriend, to me he would have the strongest motive to kill her. I think the boyfriend has connections perhaps. I think Ferrell made big mistakes by pretending not to see the car and by writing the fake note from Kathy, which proved fatal for his court case.
