Because I think he was looking for the love his parents had but at the same time the need to have a son
@kathrynorozco54162 жыл бұрын
His father and his grandfather loved their wives and in fact let them rule beside them while Henry would have angry outbursts if any of his wives tried to get involved with politics and other important affairs. Hell, King Edward IV (his grandfather) had his wife rule the kingdom in his absence. He only trusted her to take care of their kingdom. Same goes for his father. They respected and loved their wives while he never did. I don’t think Henry VIII knew the meaning of respect and love
@taylorsly84862 жыл бұрын
@@kathrynorozco5416 if your talking about Edward IV, no. He loved Elizabeth Woodville, sure, in a sense he did. But he was in no way faithful to her, nor was he always kind. Henry VIII did love both his first and second wife, different but still love. Though I believe his one true love was Catherine of Aragon -but that's a personal thought- and she helped him be a King and did rule beside him, she was very loved by the people and many considered her the Queen till she died. The real killer was Henry was never meant to sit the throne, his brother died unexpectedly and without an heir which left him next in line for something he was never trained for and probably never wanted. He was also the closet with his Grandmother, Henry VII mother, who was an extremely religious women. My thoughts are that his love for Catherine was poinsioned by the fact they lost so many children and had no living sons, which at the time a women being an heir was seen as something lowly. On the religous side, he married his brothers wife, which in catholicism, isnt something you do/ did, especially if that marriage was consummated - which Cathrine denied but 'she couldnt give him a son' which was often times told as a divine pubishment for this sin. So he has no heir to continue this rule of peace his parents founded under their rule and all he sees is their efforts going to waste because he can't get the one thing to secure his rule entirely, a son. Henry was not always cruel, it got worse as he got older, his pride and his determination to leave a lasting legacy befitting of both his family lines is what drove him to be the monster we consider him being.

You are missing the most important fact,Henry VII wasn't from the direct or legitimate royal bloodline,the house of York was,Henry had the weakest claim to the throne,the reason why his mother matched him with Princess Elizabeth of York,to strengthen his claim to the throne. To be King he literally slaughtered all the York heirs including King Richard III who was killed because of his uncle 's betrayal on the battlefield,it wasn't a true defeat,it was cowardly backstabbing. Henry VII had conspiracies all around him his entire life,because of Elizabeth he had the court's support but it worsened after Elizabeth of York's death because he was again in the danger of being overthrown,he became paranoid. All this affected Henry VIII hence his obsession of male heirs which resulted in all that tyranny also he fell from his horse and damaged his brain,making everything worse. Actually read history,research a little before making such ignorant comments.

Powerful for a series more rooted in fiction than history; irritating for anyone who has to watch an audience use these works to pretend they know about Tudor history. There was no curse. There was awful healthcare, rampant disease, and bad luck. Lizzie didn’t “weep for her children” because all but one (the one she lost at birth) lived to reach SOME point of greatness. Arthur was steps away from becoming king AND got married. Henry remains one of the most famous British monarchs of all time. Margaret was Queen of Scotland and Mary was Queen of France. Henry’s children also went on to fame. Mary the First was England’s first legitimate female ruler (not counting Jane Grey, who was descended from Margaret). Elizabeth the First rivals her father in fame and was the first woman to rule England alone. But fans of this series talk about “oooooo the CURSE!! Yeah!! The curse!!! That’s why the Tudor line ENDED!!” No it’s not!! In fact, the Tudor line TECHNICALLY went on for a lot longer, because Mary Queen of Scots (also descended from Margaret) had a son who became King after Elizabeth! “You will weep for your children” Why?! Elizabeth of York’s children DOMINATED!! AND most of them outlived her!!

To have a king love you and only you to be loyal only to her is a incredible love story. It's such a story. Then to have Henry be as he was , although I say his accident may have messed his head worse then it was already.

Plot hole if you watch white queen and listen to the curse it said nothing about killer of Richard as he was not dead. It said who killed prince Edward Edward. So killing Richard had nothing to do with it. Arthur would die because of Margaret. But why didn’t Henry die. That was the killers son

The book the curse was over the two boys ,it would kill the murder and the firstborn the curse continued because Henry married his brothers wife. It implied that they only killed one of the boys Queen Anne Neville the king maker’s daughter and wife to King Richard,gave the order accidentally for the boys to be killed,she herself and her son dies

Henry was innocent he didn’t order the boys death he was largely managed by his mother it was Margret jasper or a Stanley that gave the order to try to retrieve them from the tower but queen Ann had already suggested to a guard that they couldn’t hold the forever and they were a threat it’s implied that she’s responsible for the at least the young king’s death

@annettehernandez3985 Жыл бұрын
yes they did, in the tower of London, most likely executed by either their uncle, Richard iii, or by Henry Vii after he ascended the throne. The latter however, is less probable.
@starmorgan9241 Жыл бұрын
Yes most likely there was a credible pretender/imposter perkin warbeck because of the likeness and was backed by other royals including family but he was executed for trying to escape from the tower with the actual Plantagenet Edward the actual living heir.There’s no evidence Elizabeth saw him and she certainly wouldn’t have confirmed it after being married for so long.
@morrigan908 Жыл бұрын
Nobody knows if they even died. It's assumed, but there is no evidence. If they did die, no one knows if they were murdered or if it was from natural causes like illness, which was running rampant in London. If they were murdered, no one knows by whom. So your answer is no one knows.
