My grandad got a new bull. He went out amongst the herd and got straight to work. After a day or 2 he went over under a shade tree and lay down lookin sick. Gramps called the vet and he came right over and examined the bull and gave grandad a bottle of pills. He told him to give the bull 1 pill a day. Gramps did and after 2 days the bull jumped to his feet and went back out and finished off the herd. I asked grandad what do you suppose was in those pills? He said dunno fer sure, but they tasted a lot like peppermint. !

Well, now I understand why my great uncles that worked cattle used old telephone poles that didn't have rot, cut them in thirds, and then sank tandem polls like O[]O on either side of a fence post about 20 feet either side of the gates and used the biggest J lag in hinge posts to hand gates off of. They had about 5 feet of telephone pole buried and stout 2x8 planks for fence slats. They did it because when the herd walks through the gates, they tend to just bounce into the fence posts around the gates... Maybe do that, keep the gates standing.

Gestation for an elephant is 22 months. That's even lo0nger than the largest animal the blue whale, their gestation is around 10-11 months.
@gwynroberson1986 ай бұрын
Humans in principle are all born premature as a compromise to standing upright. Taking this out the equation we would be closer to 11 months gestation.

Hi Tom, could you explain the difference between silage and big bales? And your hatred of big bales?
@CynanDavies6 ай бұрын
The difference is that with big bales you have to Cary hundreds of round balck 600kilo bales and with silage you can carry a lot faster and as well you don’t have to load
@lindaarmstrongjackman97886 ай бұрын
Silage and big bales are different in quality and nutrition as well. Moving and storing big bales is a lot more work.
@graememckay99726 ай бұрын
I'll take a guess since my entire farming experience is watching Tom's videos. Silage is collected by the chopper which chops and adds additives, it's then stored in the clamp and rolled to allow the additive to work and "improve" the grass. Big bales is collected from the ground by a baler, it's not chopped so doesn't have additive, and it's wrapped and then needs stacked somewhere and watching Tom, it looks like theyre never stored in the correct place as he's always moving them multiple times. Happy for a real farmer to explain properly.
