Nice video essays man! I like the way you look at and digest music. Being open in experience and definition gets you the most out of any type of art.

I think the ending of your video where you talk about appreciation and open mindedness towards genres really captures acasters perspective towards music. Cause it really segues well into his later music project (temps) where its a mashup of 40 artist and genres, something that can really only be done well with that mindset

Great video! Another great album from 2016 was Psychopomp by Japanese Breakfast, not sure if it was in the book tho. But tying back to the premise, i feel like 2016 was such a great year for music because it kickstarted a good amount of careers (from what I've seen). Up to interpretation, but these albums may not be their best work but are a key point in their discography. Like for JBrekkie, Jubilee is her (imo best album) most celebrated album but Psychopomp is "where it started".

That album actually did make it into the calendar part of the book along with many other great albums I didn't get a chance to mention.

2016 is indeed eligible for the title because Haken released an album that year.
