I just received my Formbot kit and I'm installing alongside with you. I have to say Kudos to Formbot, every critic done on this video the current kit has it fixed. - Stainless steel hardware, no rust. - Wiring loom included, no need to build wires. - The motors don't have the cable attached, they just have a connector that I can plug my cables - A bunch of spare parts So far the only think I'm changing is my bottom and back parts but because I want to use ABS parts but they included what's on the BOM. I'm very very satisfied with this kit, looks like they are listening and making it better and better.

My 2.4 also originally ran a mosquito magnum but it didn't take long until I switched it out. With one heater I couldn't even get the it to hold temperature properly, and with two heaters the wiring route throttled the heatbreak and I got the biggest clog in the heatbreak I've ever had Quite happy with the mosquito magnum in a Stealthburner now

I got the same kit with PI 3 and SKR1.3. Every thing was there with quite a few extra screws and plugs. Started out fast but wiring the gantry has taken a month, just needs plugs on the gantry wires and its going. I could finish it in the time I'll spend watching this video:)

Currently building a Voron 2.4 with an attempt to get it to print Ultem. Already got my Prusa MK3s to print Ultem with water cooled stepper motors and a heated chamber (along with miscellaneous upgrades). Upgraded the BoM of the Voron for High temperature components and modifying the enclosure to allow a PTC heater and blower for active heating of the chamber. Parts are also printed out of 35wt% CF Nylon.

The PEI Bed from the Kit in the beginning looks a lot like the PEI coated Beds from 3D Prima. The little overlapping edge with the two small holes and the slightly golden back of the plate is the exact same. I use a larger version of that, it works beautifully for all Materials so far. I've been using milwalkee m12 tools for about 12 years... I was without my normal 18v driver for (reasons) and ended up using the m12 driver to hang several rooms of drywall, the m12 is small like the ryobe and bosch. There are tons of other tools that use the batteries (like a rotary tool, multi-tool, jigsaw, etc).

He, I have my kit coming up, also wanting to record the build ... And a LDO kit costs 100$. So it was not comparable at all. But yes, I guess LDO is the brand to go right now.

@evanlane1690
@evanlane1690 2 жыл бұрын
It might be unlikely that he'll respond directly as this was streamed 6 months ago. If you're going Prusa, an i3 MK3s is the way to go if you're not strapped for cash. It'll be a good workhorse printer and if you do the kit it's pretty easy to assemble (not at all as difficult as this Voron build). The print profiles just work, and you can learn a lot about 3D printing without worrying about a junk printer making that learning curve longer and harder. Good luck! It's a lot of fun, and can be very rewarding. Teach yourself 3D modeling as you go too (free software: Fusion 360 for functional parts and Blender for artistic stuff like sculptures).

Hello,Tom. I am starting to "build" one with the same size, and because of the costs need to buy the kit in several parts. I've started by obtaining the frame extrusion kit from local supplier. I am checking the screws and T-nuts quantity and worry about the quantity that come with the kits obtained from Aliexpress. I seems to me that the M3x8 and T-Nuts used with rails and other parts that are attached to the extruders are not enough in quantity (number of holes into linear rails). Do you have the actual quantity used? Another question is about the use of M3 T-nut HNTAJ5-3 and M3 Hammer Head T-nut: where are used each? The assembly manual and the cad does not inform that. Thank you in advance.

You might explain in your intro that this is not live once it is posted on KZbin. Live on June 1st 2021 is not live two years later. Wish there were more videos that discussed why one printer is better than another. We're trying to select a system for producing production parts using a material that doesn't shrink in a 120 degrees f environment. PLA and ABS shrinks. I'm told we need A higher temp printer and a proper filament in an enclosed environment. Your video reminds me of the old Heath Kit electronic projects you could buy and put every component together yourself. this was before the age of video so you referenced a thick instruction book.

...goes through the whole build process saying "well they say to do this, but I think less is good enough." Why would you assume they've just added steps just to add steps?

Because Tom is an actual professional engineer with more education and experience than most of the people who contributed to the Voron build guide. He has knowledge on a level that allows him to know when and where he can skip steps. Not to mention, he is the godfather of 3d printing education and most people in the 3d printing community started learning what they know from him first.

Great videos as always, terrible auto-focus. Can't even look anymore after some time, as my eyes hurt. Maybe you could do something about it?
