Sharing my perspective, Hope this helps. 1) The basics of everything is deciding what type of person you are, for example hardworking, Founder, Smart, Lazy Smart, Creative etc. 2) Once you know who you are then decide what makes you happy in personal example: Talking with friends, Spending time with family etc 3) What makes you happy in a professional life example, Working to build experience, working to learn, networking, A project or a certain type of work or sector you have sustainable passion for. 4) Once you know the above 3 answers, set your priority according and manage your time accordingly. Every year I do this exercise to keep my goals & happiness in check to stay focused. 😊

I respect NRN. However, for commuting it takes any where between 10 hrs to 15 hrs per week Another point, people who are in IT industry, to be available for overlap meeting to connect global colleagues, usually they spend 10 hrs, not 8 hrs per day( known, but not recognised fact) Hence, extra 10 hours per week Total = 40 ( official working hours) + 15 ( commuting) + 10 ( global overlap meetings)= 65 hrs/week already 😮 13 hrs /day + 8 hrs /day ( sleep for better health ) + 3 hrs/day ( for family, to refresh, to have food)= 24 hrs of the day Am I exaggerating here Where is the time to do exercise, teach and spend with kids, take care of elders at home🤔 Share your views

We are not supposed to work like donkey. 8 hour daily work is sufficient. Health and family, friends also important, we should give time to it also. Even if you work 24 hours, at end of day what you will only 5 roti and dal, for that you don't have to become donkey. If you are smart you can earn more in 8 hours than who work 24 hour like donkey. Work that much only which enough to take care of family. 8 hour work+ 8hour for family + 8 hour for body and soul = 24 hour. Even ambani or Elon musk, what they are eating, they also eat rice dal. Work smartly not foolishly like donkey 24 hour.

Ankur, very nice video, gave a different perspective, although have some points to make 1. NRN worked 70 hours+ and made a ton of money as a founder but also changed the lives of thousand of people at Infosys while also changing the lives of lakhs of investors…. So ntg wrong with 70 hours of work 2. Do you want your kids to emulate the east going life and assume that life is easy while it is not, the value of work and the ethics of hard work is super important for children to understand 3. Your point about children might neglect family in future if they see you work 70 hours is not completely true, they may actually emulate the work ethic and actually look up to you for teaching them that 4. What value would you gain if you spend a lot of time with family without adequate resources, so spending time with family is a problem which comes after you satisfy the needs, so before that 70 hours or metaphorically long hard work is absolutely necessary

Good video to introduce all round perspectives. UN is tired of continuously advocating for the benefits of work life balance on physical health, mental well-being, good relationships, better societal responsibilities et al. All these are backed by scientific research and even RCTs in most of the cases. Now these start up founders are coming to advocate for 70 hrs long work hrs per week without thinking about the implications of it on the people of the larger sections of the society who are either poor or working class. It is not only glorification of overwork but also opens a pandora's box for companies for over exploitation in the name of so-called "greater good", but the truth is these people will and always will benefit from this work culture which is not only oppressive but against the basic human rights. One will hardly find evidence of these people advocating for greater pay parity or higher minimum wage or creation of a conducive environment for people from all the genders and races that could work together without feeling dejected.

If so called Narayana Murthy can justify me why his wife and his children hold shares in the company and for what contributions then I will be ready to work for 70-80 hours. Sir, I feel the 70 hours ask matters for the country because we are trying to extract the greatness out of at max 20-25% of the Indian privileged population, who have studied in good schools, colleges and then entered the corporate! Our GDP/capita is around 2.85, why is it so? Because the other 75% is part of the not-so-privileged economic activity, with no good schooling, inconclusive vocational training, trying to meet the financial essentials on a day-to-day basis. Mr Narayan murthy may be right.but, first and foremost it should be applied for government sector , where they dont even work for 4 hours. Especicially banks. They have all sorts of holiday and perks. They are mostly rude toward customers and behave with ego toward costumer. The bank employees think they are the bosses . This mentality should be scrapped. Instead customer should be given respect. Scrapp bank holidays into half. Why they need comfort??? Prvate sector workers diligently work for long hours. They toil hard and they pay more tax than public sector. employees employees.

No other industry gives such start salary to graduates, I think IT professional should be happy with such salary. Fresh Architects get hardly 2.5 lac PA after 5 years of education, even fresh MPharma students get around 3 lac PA. You a physics post graduate and you very well know what package a science post graduate get. Only marketing professionals can get good salary if they out perform their peers.

In most labour intensive industries workers work for 12hr a day for all week with no paid leave, but what the employee get a penny amount of salary, it's a modern age slavery. Yes working more must be encouraged but it must also help employees not only employer. Whoever doesn't believe this just visit any industrial town in India you will realise how underpaid they are in comparison of their work done. In fact working 70hr a week for office is a waste (not counting that 0.01%). 40-50 hr a week is perfect and spending that extra 30-20 hr on personal growth will be more beneficial for oneself as well as Indian economy

Its true we are working for other countries and paying tax to our country. But we have to think what if other countries stop their businesses or services then we don't have any work. Here we need build enough services to ourselves and automate few sectors such as SCM. We need to build research companies so that other contries depends on our country We need to find a way if lay off comes how to remain in that positions rather than getting afraid of loosing job. 70 hrs work post covid is very difficult to do. Most of the start up company will utilize more workload from the freshers but when the employee see bank balance is zero. working 70hrs, yes we are working 70hrs per week on ourself but not for the company who can slack you off, pay you less. Until I am the face of the work i do I am not putting 70 or say even half per week.
