FLCLimaxxx Kobe was a rookie picked as number 13, Shaq made the Lakers into a playoff team. With HARD WORK Kobe became a super star, Shaq did not leave Penny for a rookie. Kobe and Shaq’s relationship soured and the Lakers did not want to pay an aging Shaq whatever huge number at that time, Wade was not better than Kobe then, he did have a Jordan-esq Finals in 06 though. No Shaq did not jump to already established teams like say LeBron, KD etc... EDIT: Maybe Phoenix Suns but I believe he was traded there so it was out of his will.

I think there's a certain part of Shaq which is jealous of Barkley. Nothing to do with basketball. He just can't understand how Charles generates the ton of good will which is sent his way. I can imagine Shaq thinking, "So - he's funny. Well, *I'm* funny. Everyone tells me I'm funny. So why does he get twice the fan mail?". But being a goofball and being naturally comedic are two different things. Chuck makes other people feel good about themselves. And that's not something you can copy. Unfortunately no one has told Shaq because he's determined to keep trying (and failing). And every time he fails he just becomes even more mad at Chuck. Like two kids, really.

Looking at the more than numbers, without Kobe, Shaq wasn't winning in La. Numbers wise, I believe in 2001, they averaged the same amount of points and Kobe ran the offense while placing Shaq in position to be effective. Kobe was the key against the Spurs, trailblazers, kings, leading up to the finals, deferring, catering to matchup advantages once in the finals running through Shaq which enhanced his numbers. If Kobe wanted to put up greater numbers, he certainly possessed the talent to do so but placed winning above stats and played a fine line trying manage his ego along with another alpha Shaq. A lot of people don't understand the impact Kobe had. Other basketball heads with great understanding can see it

Chuck's supporting cast weren't as good as Shaq's, neither was Chuck's COACH. Shaq never won a ring till Phil coached him. If Phil had coached one of Chuck's teams, who wants to bet that Chuck still wouldn't have won a ring? Shaq takes too much credit for his rings, and uses every opportunity - even ones that are uncalled for - to use that as a point to say that his argument is better. Wrong. Having rings doesn't necessarily make you more right than the other guy. While we do get the sense behind some of Shaq's points, why go for a personal attack on Chuck? "You were babied, that's why you ain't win." Nah man, don't do that. You wanna argue, argue with logical points alone, don't go for personal attacks.

NBA players that go into the free agency market don't like playing in Toronto's market based on Canada's Tax policy and also most players that get drafted to their team leave after their contract has been fulfilled. Some players ask to be traded which could be they dislike the environment of the ownership or it could be that they dislike the country. The players also understand the team's lack of ability to attract talent for the long term that would get them to the next level of winning a championship. The ownership could be the problem around the economics of the business

Chuck is right. The coach and the star player have to have continuity. The player has a $135,000,000 contract, so the organization has to protect their investment. They could have decreased his minutes, but an outright benching was not necessary. He helped you win 59 games and played hard every night. Bad move from an organizational aspect.
@QuestionEverything5622 жыл бұрын
Nah, that was the breaking point between that Raptors team. They mentally folded because of DeFrozen and Slowry, they bowed down to LeBron James three straight years in the playoffs. No coach was going to lead this Raps team to a Finals with DeFrozen as the main dude, he's not that guy. It's why we traded away DeFrozen for Kawhi, we got a real championship alpha player in return for a beta. Shaq was right on this particular debate, Barkley was way too pro-player here. Also, Barkley was babied too much in his career, he is unable to understand the accountability of DeRozan and Lowry here. DeFrozen deserved that benching, he gave up on the team.
@anthonyclay96942 жыл бұрын
@@QuestionEverything562 - Okay they traded him. He is still a very good all nba player. You either had to play him or trade him. An owner is gonna watch a max contract player sit the bench? I don’t think so. That’s what Chuck was talking about. Derozen led the franchise night after night, year after year. Filling up the stadium, concessions, parking, advertisements, tv and radio broadcasts 41 games a year. And he played at a high level. And the fans identified with him. So you either work it out, or trade him. But you can’t bench him and keep him. They beat everybody but Lebron. Nobody else in the East beat Lebron either.
@anthonyclay96946 жыл бұрын
mike brown, your $135,000,000 investment is on the bench. The coach will get the GM fired. The owner is watching his investment sit on the bench. Its not like benching a high priced 3rd or 4th best player like Melo. This guy carried you all year. The only way Casey would have survived is the Raptors had to win.

Shaq was 100% correct, because Larry Bird hated Bill Fitch guts, but they still won a championship. Charles Barkley didn't win because he wasn't aggressive as he should have, and when he was with the Phoenix Suns, Barkley didn't step up when he was suppose to, and he had the Houston Rockets down 3-0 and lost, and that Houston team had ONLY 1 all star, yet they still won. Barkley had a very nice Suns team. Barkley speaks like a man that didn't have a father figure in his life big time, as he says things that makes absolutely no sense. He needs to stop trying to validate something he has no experience in.

Chuck is also 100% right and Shaq is 100% WRONG, regardless of their accolades. If you wanna be a military man and talk "missions" your "mission" as an NBA coach is to get your players to play well. The coach is NOT a King or even a General - he's a lieutenant or captain. He takes orders and has to relay them to his subordinates. He can make decisions that piss off his soldiers and the owner will have to replace HIM. Because they owe DeRozan however many millions of guaranteed money regardless if he's there or not. In the modern NBA, coaches are replaceable. Sure, bench your star player if he's playing poorly. But it's your fucking job to make sure he plays like a star the next game. If not, then you have a worse team, you will likely lose, and you will likely be replaced. So Chuck is right, coach Casey HAD to explain his decision to DeRozan. Now Casey is fishing for a job. If he keeps up a "my way or the highway" attitude in the modern NBA then he'll only find work on TV next to Kevin McHale, who couldn't get along with Harden and Dwight.

Scott Brooks wasn’t shit when he played for the Rockets and as a head coach he still questionable. Guy defense is good, but his offense is too simplistic and hero ballish. Casey is a good coach and not great. Him and Brooks share a lot of the same styles. Guess that’s why the Raptors and Wizards play alike...
