@@TheAray6 The defendants definately would not sue normally. Get this: there was no lease for over a year, which means there was no evidence of how long the plaintiff lived there. The only reason as to why JJ was able to make a ruling including November, was because she got the plaintiff to admit to moving out late. If the plaintiff was slightly smarter, at the very least the November rent would be gone forever. Meaning, the defendants would at most be able to get the $1600 for October, and be forced to return the $1300 (minus the $283 for cleaning). $1600 - ($1300 - $285) = $585. They would actually loose money by suing, if the women were smart enough to deny November (which they couldn't know for sure).

Once it came out that the year long lease had been fulfilled and the landlords wanted rent for two months that the unit was occupied by the rent was not paid, she was happy to consider the claim. Im glad the plaintiff has to pay. Her attitude is definitely the reason why she's a single mother. How are you grown behaving like you're in front of a highschool principal for skipping class.

The body language of the plaintiff is ridiculous. What a pampered little Karen. I feel bad for her kids...

California law states that after 1 year, the landlord(s) must give a 60 day notice, not 30 days.

No wonder she's "single" 🙄

I’m so glad JJ ruled like that. That woman’s attitude was ridiculous and it amazes me how some people has the audacity to take someone to court knowing they owe them money 💰

How do you come to court KNOWING you DIDN'T pay YOUR RENT.... and EXPECT Judge Judy to give YOU money????

My mother was a single mother when I was young (father passed away). Never once did she ever use “I’m a single mother”

Wow. That daughter sure has attitude. Her face contortions are going to make her age quickly.
I love when the plaintiff ends up owing. Should have left well enough alone

I'm so tired of people using the single mother shtick. Keep your legs closed if you can't keep a job long enough to support yourself and a child..

Wow, from 'ridiculous counterclaim' to 'judging for the defendant'. Fist time I saw that on JJ - plaintiff making a case only for it to backfire so badly.

She blurted out that she couldn't pay the rent for her own financial reasons as though it was a reason. No lady, your inability to pay is YOUR problem, not anyone else's. Her stroppy attitude throughout, she definitely thinks the world owes her a favour.

I can totally understand why she is a single mother. She seems intolerable.

Single mother of two children.... yeah I can clearly see why.

Her kids probably have different Dads. I wouldn't doubt that.

The daughter can't stand still or keep her mouth shut which probably explains why she's a single mother

My mum was a single mum of 3 she worked 2 jobs just to make sure we had everything we needed including a house where we lived she didn't let me being a single mum stop her and she definitely didn't use it as a excuse to pay rent she made sure she had the rent money

What an entitled Karen and the mother that enabled her. I don't think she will ever understand that she can't do whatever it is that she wants. As a single mother who already made some bad choices, she's got a lot of reality coming her way.

I am sick of single parents acting like that is a disability. They chose to have children and they are their responsibility not taxpayers.
