So, here's one of the cavemen that actually tried all three pedals mentioned, the POD express, the Tonex One and the Boss IR 2 and actually kept the IR 2. Most reasons for this were mentioned in the discussion: the simplicity of the IR 2 clicked with me where the infinite possibilities of the Tonex One (which NEED a computer to be accessed) left me feeling stressed out. I completely bounced off the Tonex software UI and I didn't want to put in the time to work it out, let alone makes captures of my amp. Also changing EQ/gain setting on the Tonex felt awkward with me having absolutely no feel for where I was with the illuminated mini-knobs. The stacked knobs on the Boss give me access to all relevant settings without an "alt" button and are clearly marked, which makes adjustments much easier. Yes, the models are of course limited, but have enough options for me to find the sound I'm looking for. Especially because my use case for the IR 2 is as a headphone amp that replaces my 2 channel Orange when practicing at home. I can even keep my effects loop which I use on the IR 2 as I would on my amp. Oh, and the POD Express is cool in concept as a stand alone beginner platform for practicing, but I don't need the effects, it feels like a plastic toy that I'll break within weeks and it's too big to fit into my pedalboard as the other two were able to

Finally got around to watching this due to vacation. I was about to buy an IR-2 as a back up to my normal rig but couldn’t find one anywhere. The next day the ToneX One was released and I am much happier with that purchase.

More corrections needed... 7, 37, 73, and 77 were not picked more than half of the time as John stated, but they were picked more frequently than all other numbers from 1-100 other than 42 and 69. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmfMgqWeZ7l-b5o

The IR-2 has a built-in stereo fx loop (return) and a headphone out, so it still has a valid use-case for me. I think the amp models are ok, but nothing special. I changed a couple of the IR’s to taste. Its biggest weakness is a lack of customizability, which the tonex definitely capitalized on with great effect.

The IR-2's biggest weakness is it never being available!

On the topic of cold brew: Ditch the grocery store premade stuff and grab a Toddy. The process of making cold brew is just making a concentrate to then “proof down” with water and/or milk. Once you steep a bag of coffee for 24 hours, it’s easy to store the concentrate and it stays good for a while. For a quick cup of iced coffee, I really dig the Japanese iced coffee brewing method. I use a Beehouse Pourover for this. It’s basically just a pour over done over ice, factoring in the weight of the ice cubes to replace some of the hot water.

I love the boss IR-2. I actually sold my iridium to buy it. I use two settings on it: clean and crunch. Paired with a prism and rc booster v2, I’m all set to go. I love that there’s no menu diving. It’s simple and to the point and sounds amazing.

The POD express is a cool throw it in a gig bag plug in some headphones and jam. I have one and haven’t been tempted to put it on a pedal board, but it is a cool little pedal. I’d say you guys are comparing it to things that I don’t put in the same category. Also just temporarily change your name “tonex junkie”😂

My issue is with this pedal is the price . 199 for amp sims, irs and reverb.which for the form factor is great . But for 120$ you can get a valeton vt100 and have effects, put your own irs in it.they have like 35-40 amp sims in it.granted it's double and triple the size of the boss, but you can have everything you need in one box.and with valeton it's stereo out . There are better options for the price. Another 100$ you can get the tonex original or the tonex one for the same price and load the amp you want.

Just to add. Metal is a great stress reliever. If I had a bad day at the office, I would thrash out metal/hair metal and feel a lot better afterwards. It beats chopping wood, and more neighborhood friendly 😬 The issue with any large charity is they have workers to pay. Employees not “volunteers”. Therefore the amount (if any) that eventually reaches its intended target is a dripping tap, that does little to alleviate the problem for which the cause was established. Not sure if you guys picked up that Queen sold their rights, during the last week, for $1billion+ Sooze: grab your towel (42).

Replying to the title before watching…yes. Not only has the IR-2 been wildly unavailable, it doesn’t hold a candle to the infinitely more useful POD Express.

There’s something about being in your late 30s that age becomes a blur, for some time I swore I was 39, my wife turned 39 this year and she’s a year older than me, I bought her candles of number 40, thinking that she turned 40…… not a good day gotta say. Thats when I became aware she turned 39 and I’m 38…..

I want to hear your take on a prototype product from Paintaudio (former engineer of Meloaudio stuff, has a midi controller called MIDI Captain). It's clearly a ripoff of the Quad Cortex BUT the touch screen is a full windows computer for running plugins. Probably no rotary knobs. How do you shut up a guitarist ? Put sheet music in front of them. Guy walks into a shop and asks for a pound of sausages. Shopkeeper asks "what strings do you use"? Guy says daddario tens, why do you ask ? Shopkeeper replies, this is a pharmacy.

I just got an IR-2 over the weekend. I regret it. The reviews I heard on it must have had magic speakers or something, I can't get a good high gain sound from it out of the box.

It sucks so bad. I bought one, returned it. Then thought, oh wait I must have not dialed it in right and bought another one, and then sold it. The presets things is annoying too besides the bad tones. Yes, it’s a flop to me.
