Punk and Kingston using 15 years of history against each other was smooth. When the crowd begins to chant "let them fight" that is how you know you've sold the feud in 8 minutes or less. Both of these guys are the types that you can't just throw them into a match and expect the stakes to get raised, they've got to be given time to run their mouths naturally to bring everything home. Eddie was able to bring out the CM Punk we all know and love. There is always at least some kernel of truth in the best feuds. That is what made Punk cutting promos on Triple H so great, this exchanged reminded me of that same CM Punk. Punk was always a master at blurring the lines between between reality and kayfabe, and Kingston matched him beat for beat.

When wrestling legends talk about blurring the lines, and making the crowd believe, or at least be unsure, if this is actually legit tension and fighting, this is the pinnacle of the art. I'm still not entirely convinced this is a work, a part of me actually believes there is hatred between these two. Punk is a legend on the mic, but Eddie is so incredible he had Punk on the ropes for a lot of this. They already sold me on this fight. I feel like there is more heat in this feud after this this one segment than the entire Omega - Hangman arc over the last year. Eddie makes that stuff feel real. The anger, the passion, the voice cracks when repeating words - it gives the Promo so much power and relevance
@Waywardwindfall2 жыл бұрын
I mean this is all true of Eddie, but that anger and the passion is real. I just watched a video about Eddie saying it was all real. I don't like punk, so Eddie calling him a narcissist really hit home with me. He works my last nerve and I think Eddie will be who dethrones Punk. Well that was my thought before Punk got hurt. He's going to lose so much heat that he might have to start his heel turn all over again.
@younglove3362 Жыл бұрын
I don't know, seems scripted. Seems like they were both holding back to not mess eacher other up too much, especially Punk. Punk over reacted to that last line instead of giving a legit reaction. But as much as I hate to admit it, Punk is looking a little old. Like the stress through his years is aging him rapidly and he's losing his agility.

It was real. Waaaay back in the day Eddie I believe made a small mistake in a match and it hurt someone. When he came back to the locker room, Punk went off on him and was talking shit about his weight and work ethic and all sorts of shit. He basically went completely apeshit on Eddie and buried him back stage. He referenced it in this promo but did so in a way that didn't break kayfabe and it's amazing. This is probably the only time I've ever seen someone shit this hard on Punk in a promo.
@Boyetto-san3 жыл бұрын
You gotta love how Eddie Kingston can make an abrupt feud mean something just like that. And Punk absolutely kept up with Eddie's chaotic, personal, and tempermental way of building up a beef with someone. The last time Eddie was this personal was when he was feuding with Mox. We know how that turned out. And if this leads to Punk, Mox, and Kingston vs. the world, I am so fucking down for that! And if not...we got the two most naturally gifted mic workers in the business today trading barbs and trading fists and that's just as good by itself
