@@yonsetv5223 How can his opinion being that he dislikes a lot of this movie not be in the minority? Have you seen how people talk about this movie? This is somehow the magnum opus for DC fans. I absolutely respect Mason for his opinion and his honesty. James was so so so incredibly careful with what he says and how this video even started and became a lot more comfortable around the end for reasons like either not caring anymore since it's like way past the 30m mark in an 1h long video or because Mason on the other hand has no worries of how this is going to be taken. Something that A LOT of channels did not do. And no, James literally shat on the future parts of the movie, rightfully so... he doesn't like all of this movie... completely normal since it has so many flaws.

The way you solve the slow motion problem is to speed up everything that doesn't have the Flash in it so that when the flash is in slow motion it serves a narrative purpose meanwhile the editing serves the functional purpose of making the movie three and a half hours which is basically the same length of bvs director's cut and coincidentally the length of this run on sentence.

Realtalk the way they set-up his time travel powers is actually really great. He has to run past the speed of light to start reversing time, and run fast enough to turn back the explosion. The imagery of the world reforming around him, its a brilliant moment. Its crazy that Barry is just unlikeable in the Joss cut, but he's actually solid in this version. He comes off more as just awkward and not meant to be a comic relief character. Just a dork.

There literally is not a person that doesn’t know reality is reality, and I’m sure you know that movies don’t have to conform to just one kind of experience. Some movies can be built to just be cool thrill rides in spite of whatever qualities that might make other movies great under a critical lens. Every movie in this genre that’s come out in the past ten years save for joker and Logan have done exactly that as well, so no reason to bag on this movie for being like the 30+ other comic book movies in that regard and not being more like those two when its exactly what it was meant to be. it certainly didn’t do what it was intended to do in amateur fashion

36:54 my main gripes with this are the following: 1. He was already about to exit the chamber. 2. Once steppenwolf came he had to activate the machine (he ain’t no flash, and his goal was to super heat the motherbox so that thermal scanners would be able to see it anywhere aka BRUCE’S 6 SATELLITES). 3. Once cyborg arrived he had already triggered the machine, once steppenwolf came in he sealed himself in the room so that it would take a bit longer to reach him. 4. From a narrative standpoint the idea was for his sacrifice to not only motivate cyborg and the the team into fighting, but also to ensure that logically speaking batman and others would be able to find the dudes base, cuz remember batman wasn’t able to locate it without stones’ help. 5. When it comes to cyborgs dad, they already foreshadowed this by having Ryan Choi (The Atom), show him a part of zod’s ship absorbing and dissipating the energy from their hottest lasers. Whether or not you thought it was pointless is irrelevant from that point.

The black suit is 100% fanservice pandering. It was shot as the regular blue/red/yellow suit, but repainted digitally for the ZSJL. Even the costume designer that worked with Snyder, Michael Wilkinson, went on record to say that while they considered maybe using the black suit suit, Snyder, for some reason, felt like the black suit didn't fit the tone of the movie they were making, because a "positive, upbeat image of Superman was what was needed". People that think this 4-hour madness is the movie that would've been released in 2017 are way off.

I thought it was better just because a lot of aspects of the plot and a lot of characterization was much better realized and there were less really stupid comedy beats. But in the grand scheme of things, it's beat for beat the same movie with the same plot up until the final battle. So if you didn't like the original, and the minutia of the plot doesn't matter to you, then despite what all the really hardcore fans want to believe, it might as well be the same movie. And it's fair for people to judge it as such. But again, I definitely think it's better and I personally enjoyed it. ...Aside from the epilogue and the inclusion of Martian Manhunter. Whether or not Martian Manhunter being Martha Kent was planned from the start is irrelevant because it still feels tacked on and undercuts the emotional beats of that previous scene. That and him showing up at the end just raises more questions than his inclusion is even worth. I can go either way on Jared Leto's Joker and I get that Zack did that because he felt like it would be a massive missed opportunity if Batman and Joker never meet in this universe but in terms of how it affects the overall structure of the movie, I don't think it works at all. Same with Lex and Deathstroke.

Having never had interest in the original justice league and going into the Snyder cut fresh, I found it be a surprising enjoyable experience. Even with the pace, which they seem to discuss a fair bit here. I think with the amount of characters, character arcs, backstories, relationships, and set pieces, the 4 hours seems warranted to me. I also oddly liked the more useless moment of the snyder cut, like the townspeople singing about aqua man, or lanes’ memorial visit schedule, or the dream out footage showing her moving through grieve. I think scenes like this are important to add a level of emotional weight to the film, and also ground what is otherwise a typically over the top super hero film. I also felt like a lot of of the extended scenes involved father/son relationships, e.g Barry and his father, Bruce and feeling that his parents thought they would be proud, cyborg and his father leaving a message he hears in the end all pointed to a very personal motif that I think Snyder was moving through after the death of his own daughter and it all felt much more tangible, true, and emotional for me. Also just started to watch the whedon cut and so far it just feels like it’s on steroids, the pacing is very odd, which I think make the stakes feel less real, and my emotional investment for the characters so far isn’t really there. I’m a way, I feel that we needed the time to get to know all the characters to really care about the decisions that they make in this film. ...but idk, maybe cut some of the barista latte preps shots...

Yeah, unfortunately just putting every bit of film onto the screen is not the way to make a movie. And this 4 hour movie is still incoherent. Friends who did not see the original were lost. This is better than the original version but it is not a good movie. Zach Snyder is obsessed with slow mo and does not understand superheroes.

@@gsager2008 Most would disagree with you. Even RLM who've been super critical of Snyder praised the film. I had many issues with Man of Steel and BvS, but was pleasantly surprised with the amount of character development here. The add on scenes at the end of the film should have been mid and post credit, but aside from that, it was fine. And as far as slow motion, that's part of Snyder's style. Knowing he does this and knowing you don't like it, not sure why you'd watch this. I don't like torture porn, so don't watch Eli Roth films. The Snyder cut isn't the greatest film ever, but it's good.

@@alexduran1967 lol most would disagree. Did you take a poll of the world? Anyway, if you think it is a good or great movie, good for you. If you think the overuse of slow mo is fine because it is his style, great. If you enjoy the weird music and overly long scenes that do nothing for the plot or character development (2 min of screen time to fire an arrow), awesome. To me all of these things make for a mediocre movie. It is not really bad, but for 400 million dollars, a chancebto have seen what the first did wrong and 4 hours of movie, I expect more.

@@alexduran1967 my problem is that many are comparing it to the previous version. It is better than the previous version. That does not make it good. How many people do you think will bother to watch this 4 hour movie again? It is a long movie with a lot of wastes scenes that could easily be cut as they do nothing for character or plot. If this was cut down to 2 hours 30, 2 hours 45, getting rid of a lot of those scenes and taking the time to improve some of the effects, then yeah, I would call it good. Still not great but good. The inclusion of Cyborg’s entire character arc alone makes watching this worth it. Just because studio heads ruined the movie and spoiled the story for you doesn’t make this (the one legitimate cut) a bad movie. If anything, it’s a testament to how good it is that people are enjoying it so much DESPITE the fact that the studio made their best effort to RUIN it for audiences. But I do agree that Jared Leto is awful, and that scene is awful. Hopefully if there is a sequel Batman makes good on his promise “to fucking kill” him within the first 5 minutes.

Number 1 film on HBO Max in 2021. NAFCA declared in February 2022 that Zack Snyder's Justice League was the best streaming movie of 2021. Declared a global phenomenon. Appears at the top of the list on NETFLIX in foreign countries. Clearly a success and a great capper to the trilogy. Superman is fully developed from where he began as just a powered Clark Kent without purpose. Batman's rage over Robin's death and Metropolis wreckage is under control. Justice League members all given their intended character stories. Had WB not panicked after MoS, we would have the complete 5-movie story arc by now. ...and the black suit was always Snyder's idea for two reasons. 1) As was provided in the video, it's established in the comic books after Doomsday killed him. It's a suit that absorbs the sun better so that he can heal faster. 2) It is also exactly what Krytponians wore on Krypton, as seen in MoS. Dur. It shows that Clark Kent has embraced Kal-El, as well as his purpose as Earth's guardian.
