want to ask why my plant always rotting on the stem..and break on the stem at the same level of the soil

My old tank was 2 years old when I decided to remove everything and redo the aquascape. I had the same problem but lived with it for a long time. Now my new tank is almost 6 months old I start seeing mid section losing leaves. I might have to do your method and see if problem goes away. Thank you for informative video. I look forward to revisit your shop again this year when COVID situation resolves.

Update. Sorry for long delay. I replanted a few months ago and yes, it fixed the problem. I had to live with short background plants for a while but now everything is great. I hope you guys are doing ok.

With Amazonia aqua soil it takes weeks to eliminate the ammonia and nitrite leached from the soil . What do you do with the fish all that time when you have an ammonia spike ?

Thanks for the video! Are different methods required for replanting different types of plants - for example stem plants (such as rotala), rhizome plants (such s repens) and rosette plants (such as blyxa japonica) ?
@NORIaquaCh4 жыл бұрын
Official WASABI Moderator: Hi Peter, you are correct, every plant has it's own planting methods. Do not plant rhizome plants into the substrate. The exception is, as you mentioned, blyxa japonica, which can be planted into the substrate by planting a sprig, just like how you would plant hair grass. Thanks for watching! ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

Do root tabs solve this issue as well or is the life span of the aqua soil going to kill the plants regardless?

Personally I add soil then put a thick layer of sand over it so no ammonia can escape

So what do you actually do when the bottom leaves of stem plants die? What can we do to revive it because it doesn’t clearly state what to actually do

Bol.. I did the same thing.. I had gravel and saw at store beautiful tiny shiny natural river rock … I thought it would compliment but it looks like a horrible mess! 😭.. luckily I only have a 5 gallon and ten gallon. I also found out that I do not like black gravel. I feel bad for my fish because I want to constantly fix or move something. I resist - but sometime I have to fix an eye sore….

Is it safe to add new soil with fish in it? Wouldnt ammonia leak and be dangerous to fish and shrimp?
@FreshWaterAquarist4 жыл бұрын
If u keep some/most of the plants, hardscape, and all the filter media around.. the beneficial bacteria still in the tank should be able to be handle it if you add some soil. Of cos do your water test to be sure and standby to change water in order to lower the ammonia
@NORIaquaCh4 жыл бұрын
Official WASABI Moderator: Hi William. If it's only a small amount of soil, it should not be a problem. As Nelsontby mentioned below, the filtration will take care of it. Thanks for watching! ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

@@FreshWaterAquarist Official WASABI Moderator: Very good point of view. However, it's best to do a water change when adding a substantial amount of aqua soil. Keep up the good work sharing knowledge! Thanks for watching! ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
