*The v8 canister has a defective latch* Several times the canister spilled all the collected dirt and dust all over me while vacuuming. Apparently the latch has been fixed in the v10. *IMO, v8’s most dangerous flaw is it blows air & dust in the users face* while vacuuming under the bed or furniture and while you bend down to pick something off the floor, if you don’t turn the motor off first. I’ve been a loyal Dyson customer for many years. I’ve always been treated with respect until recently when the v8 filled my lungs with dust. I struggled to breathe for weeks & endured chest pressure. Two trips to the ER and a month later I’ve just started to breathe normally and can walk from room to room without running out of breathe.. Dyson, offered to exchange my v8 animal for a v8 absolute but, is ignoring this problem. I refused the exchange. Got rid of the v8 and purchased the v10 for 1 reason: the canister latch defect is fixed in the v10. As far as the air flow problem, I’ll have to wear a face mask until I find either a better solution or another cord free vacuum I like better. I’m surprised reviewers have not mentioned Dyson’s air flow as a potential dangerous health hazard. Well, that’s my experience. Hope someone finds this helpful.

halfpiint hi. We have had a v8 for about three years and haven’t had these problems. Ours has HEPA filter on the back so the air is filtered properly.
