I was within range to throw my javelin and I rolled a 19... I was like "oh really?" **throws javelin, instant death** 😂😂😂

Im not mad, i love the video. One lil nit pick here... THERE IS NO SUPPRISE ROUND!!! It is a supprise CONDITION, if someone is incapacitated, there is no incapacitated round, the supprised enemy takes his first turn shaking off the supprised CONDITION, at the end of his turn, he is not supprised and CAN take reactions, avoid certain theif skills, and take legendary actions. You have no idea how many players are influenced by this... Aside from that great video, (ix start at lvl 1 however i see how this could be a problem once n00bs get to lvl 2), so this is a really good and helpfull series! Oh and its roll twice not double roll on crit :3

Thank you! A lot of your videos have been helping me out. Long story short, I’ve wanted to play but as the DM for a while, and I’ve had a few one on one sessions with dm friends but I was never part of a game and they had a habit of just telling me “do this,” “roll this,” “ok, that means this,” and didn’t really explain it to me. But a week ago, my younger brother and his friends came to me saying they ditched their old DM (for purposefully using topics that made them uncomfortable repeatedly) asking me to DM them instead. Funny part is I’ve wanted to DM for so long I already had a world built with a map and backstories and hidden plots for players to stumble into, they were impressed that I’ve never actually DMed or truly played before. First session is 3 days from now, I hope it goes ok.

This video in particular is REALLY helping me. Just for funzies, i simulated a battle against a skeleton for myself using a character i had just rolled…. Bad luck, i lost lol But at least im starting to understand battling! Anybody else having trouble, i suggest you roll a character on D&Dbeyond, pull up a weak enemy stat block, and try to follow along to this video. I rolled initiative, On my turn i used the club i had equipped for my proficiency, and added that bonus to the rolled damage the weapon deals on hit when rolled successfully prior…. Repeated rolls until either i or the skeleton fell unconscious. Roll Hit, roll for damage + mod. I’ve got the basics down now i think. Now i have to learn more about movement options and how those come into play when more than one creature is on the battlefield.

I've just recently started watching your videos and I love them! Thank you so much for taking your time to make these. They are very instructive, and extremely easy to follow. I am getting back into D&D after a long 2 year break and I've used your videos every step of the way for recreating characters and will soon use the knowledge from your sample sessions for my own game play!

I'm playing my first ever game of D&D tonight, I'm quite intimidated by the sheer depth of the game, but I'm watching this series to hopefully get my head around the basics enough to fumble my way through. This is a great series for noobs like myself!

WASD20 this video was very helpful, although I have only just started watching D&D I thought it was a really hard concept but it is easy the way you have explained it, but now I need some friends to play it with.

Thank you this was very helpful. I am a DM for my own group and needed some pointers. These were well made and useful to me although it may be a different version.

I was invited to a DND dinner night with friends and Im the newest member, who btw, never played the game. Just watching your vid helps me get a basic understanding. Thank you so much. Now I can go back to and become my wizard character "Kahunahokulea" (echo, with lightning exploding sounds of thunder).

Thank you so much for these vids. Not a newcomer to D n D. Played a lot of Advanced D n D in the 80s. But I am rusty as hell and wanted to tune up before I attempt 5e with an actual group. Peace.

I had to look up and found out that you can take a free action to draw or stow a weapon, and dropping a weapon is also free making what you did by the book ok :)

As an inexperienced dm (never even played) preparing to lead a group of inexperienced players this has helped a lot! Gonna recommend this to my players

This was extremely helpful, thank you so much!!! Most videos don’t show how the dm manages combat, only the players’ rolls, which is quite confusing Also, your explanation on AC and critical hits was really easy to understand. Thank you!!

Awesome, this is exactly what I have been looking for. Seriously a bunch of people have great channels with a ton of cool info. But till now I haven't seen any cover the simple aspect of how the dice work in combat.

Hehe the hushed "ew" In the background when you describe how you killed the orc. 😂. I love it. Thank you for making these videos, they are really helpful!
