When cricket was real until 1990s, there were no stupid rules like power play, more bouncers were allowed, boundaries were bigger and realistic, bats were lighter (real) not iron-like being used today, there was less protective equipment (helmet etc), uncovered and sometimes dangerous pitches, less computerized and analytical help, less gym access and fitness trainers etc ... I can go on and on. But hope that's enough to convince the cricket nowadays is a joke compared to the real cricket of 1970s until 1990s.
