WASH AND RETWIST | using loc n gel

In today's video I will be washing and retwisting my hair with Loc N Gel! I am by no means a professional or a loctitian --- I'm just simply doing what has been working for me and my hair as of lately. However, I am always open to changing my routine to fit the integrity of my hair so my techniques in this video may change at some point. Just a heads up! Im so glad you commented on how heat can melt your gel. I use a different but similar gel and got so discouraged when i got out from under the dryer and saw the puffing 😅 Anyway your hair looks great!

Gorgeous! Love the color and it looks like you have about as much new growth/loose hair at the roots as me. I started mine back in January. I find the roots of my hair won't lock for sh*t and it's upsetting me! lol

Ah, thank you so much! You're too kind! Yeah I find that certain textures just have a harder time locking. Some pieces where my texture is tighter in the back and near the crown of my head is starting to form but the front is just a lost cause right now lol. Everyone I know says it'll eventually do its thing though! Patience, sister! We got this

So pretty also How long have you been locked ? How long did you let it air dry ? And around what month did you color it ?

Thank you, Kariah! I’ve been locked for 8 months now! And yes, I let my hair air dry. It wasn’t soaking wet anymore by the time I finished and had ample time to walk around throughout the day before I put my scarf on and slept overnight- however I wouldn’t let it air dry if you’re going to bed right after. Locs can hold moisture longer than your loose natural hair would which is what leads to that mildewed smell. So definitely be mindful of that! I colored my hair before I locked it up BUT since then I’ve colored it three times and the first time I did was around the 6 month mark. I hope all of this helps! 🫶🏾☀️

I am so glad i found this. i am also in my starter loc phase. i will hit 3 months on the 25th and i use this gel for my retwist two days ago and made the mistake of using heat to dry it faster and man i am made. it puffed up a bit but still held the twist. lol. but i am noticing i have flaking on my scalp. how do you combat that or do you have experience with that?

Girl, trust me, I was stressed when I saw mine puff up. I was like oop! As far as the flaking, I have to oil my scalp pretty frequently because I am DEFINITELY a dry scalp girl. Pure Jojoba oil is rich in vitamins and minerals so it helps a ton. I also have my own blend that I use if you’d like to check it out! lovednlocd.com

@@kyraclove I have my blend of jojoba oil, olive oil, lavender oil that i make and sell at my nail salon which is what I use on my help. It's been helping so much. And yes my hair is frizzy as all get out but I am trusting the process. I can tell it's thickening up cause it's getting harder to put into a ponytail. I have to use my extra extra large hair ties lol
