this was a big help! I have a semi-MIA landlord, and my washer wasn't spinning or draining anymore. I researched things and it pointed to the water pump being blocked (buzzing, no grind from a damaged transmission), and i found your video. Big help indeed - unplugged the washer, tipped it back, undid both hoses, pulled off both clamps, pulled the pump, pulled the sock out of the thing (was wrapped around the impeller), put it back together, and it worked right away!!. very thankful that i was able to do it myself and spare me the visit of a technician etc. took me all of 30 minutes!!!

This video is great to show you how to access the part and what steps to take to put all back together. One big thing missing is that your washer will probably have a rusted shaft on the motor and removal of pump will be difficult. It may require Liquid wrench, WD 40 or more and physical pulling and prying to remove the old pump. Then the shaft will have to be cleaned and probably filed to remove rust and sanded for a smooth surface. A good coating of an all purpose grease and then gentle tapping with a hammer to get the new pump to slide onto shaft. It takes a little patience and little more elbow grease than what you see in the video. Good luck, you can do it.

Yea I had to do what you said. It was hard to get the pump off. 2 Long screwdrivers prying it off did the trick for me. Cleaned and oiled the shaft a bit and the new pump slid right back on.

The background tunes could be lower in volume, so we can clearly hear you! A small pan should be put under the hoses before removing, as residual water can drain. The hoses can be inspected for clogs, cracks, etc. But good video, sir!

Hi Steve, My washer looks exactly like the one you are working on. I replaced the water pump and it still leaks right in front where the location of the pump is. I did fill the drain hose with water to see if it was leaking from the hose, but no water came out. I put a newspaper underneath to see where the leak was coming from and it is front the front. The leak is minimal no more than an 1/8 cup of water or a little less. Any ideas on why my washer still might be leaking?

Does the pump running all the time when the motor is running? seem like motor have 1 shaft that drive the agitation/spin and the pump at the same time.

The pump and motor assembly is the exact same on my washer. I removed the water pump. I'm just not sure if the pump is the issue. Should the wheel inside the pump be free flowing. When I try and spin it it's a bit stiff. I want to know for sure before I buy a new water pump. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Sorry to hear your still having a leaking issue, If your pump is the same as the one in this video, the pump is the most common source of a leak either from something piercing the casing from the inside of the shaft seal wearing out. If you had any difficulty getting the old pump off or the new pump on the motor shaft that maybe the cause of your current leak. The motor shafts will corrode and swell if leak has come form shaft seal, the shaft must be smooth and clean before installing new pump or the resistance caused by it will unseat the pump seal and you will still have a leak. Look for pin holes in the hoses to and from the pump to see if something may have pierced one of them. If these are not the issue let us know the make and model of your machine and whereabouts you are seeing the water sitting under the washer as well as how much water, sometimes help to put some newspaper under the machine do a load and see where on the paper is most wet helping pin point the possible cause.
