It has seen better days but it’s still my favorite - fringe!! 😍😍 is the rug releasing color! It seemed like all throughout the cleaning, pinkish color was coming through on my screen. 8:15 - power wash✅ edge ✅ fringe✅ the holy trinity! 😍😍😍 I love when you scrub with the brush, it turns the carpet from dark into the color it will end up with. 13:07 - big beautiful pink bubbles! 🤩😍 What a great video, Jakub. I just realized why it took my so long to realize there wasn’t music! I watched this the first time in my computer room, on the Jurassic computer without sound. I was fine imagining the sound, as I’ve heard it hundreds of times. Then came the parts of the video where Jakub talks about the designs of the rug. These videos are fascinating... Little by little it's like seeing a painting being restored to it's former glory. It's more than just a dirty and neglected rug getting cleaned. It's a reminder that change is possible. The things that are dirty, broken, dysfunctional, the things we don't like sometimes all they need is our time and attention. And even if you do not succeed in removing all the stains and discoloration. The point is you left things better than how you found it. Sometimes the damage is so great and so extensive that there are marks that cannot be erased. It happens.

I'm in agreement, that was a lot of pink/red water and once I saw that I was going "Oh no. That doesn't look good." But it's possible it just wasn't originally rinsed out very well, since red dyes are unfortunately well known for bleeding into everything and not exactly staying very well on the item where the dye was used. While a possibility for not being rinsed well originally (when it was made), it's not what my gut is telling me, however what my gut is telling me is that this is just the normal "bleeding" for a rug of this age. Still, doesn't mean it's not worrisome watching pink/red water fly out of a red rug! Regarding the music... yeah, definitely a change there lol

It's always like the rug pops into high def in the after shot! 😲 I have a very old, clearly handmade rug with 3 shades of hot pink & orange flowers in blue urns on a black background. Coal dust still falls out of it, even after professional steam extraction at home. I can't imagine how vivid it would be if Jakub washed it!! 🤩

I'm in NC in USA, and I'd guess this rug is from about 1910-20. It's super unusual, very irregular at edge, handknotted fringe, long worn off, & it has Cyrillic lettering in one spot. It's really gorgeous, only black background old rug Ive ever seen. Flatwoven. I've had it for 20 years, and it was FULL of coal dust when I bought it off a friend who'd found it 10 years earlier and never could find right place in her home. I imagine that coal is just part of living in 1920s-60s, nearly anywhere in the world! My mom grew up in MI with coal heat, my brothers house in MD was still heated with coal furnace until 1960s. I’ve been watching “Renovation East” with André showing his progress in renovating an abandoned tiny house next door to his home. He talks about the stereotype of the clean, neat German, as he cleans up after each rubble-making episode. One of the other things he talks about and then shows us, is how superior some German technology and craftsmanship is to American made items. His windows that swing out sideways or let down from the top. How ingenious! All this to say, I appreciate that you like Jakub’s work, as he is so methodical and clean and has such ingenious equipment! I saw some strawberry milk coming off the rug after the scrubbing. I wonder if someone had spilled something like red fruit punch on it before, the rug’a maker used wool with dye that wasn’t well rinsed or the cleaning solution had to bring a small amount of dye out in order to get the dirt out. In any case, the end result is bright and cheery!

This was the first time washing the carpet so the dye let go slightly. I fed the color stabilizer and stopped it coming out as much as I could 🤗💖
