@@MrSidReal First, the post was made over a year ago, in the height of the lockdown in the Philippines. Second, at the time, the information available wasn't conclusive on the infection vectors of COVID. Third, my wife had just come back from the city's largest hospital after giving birth, and I became sick... we were not taking any chances. We followed the guidelines provided by medical experts at the time. The thinking has since changed, but it doesn't make the actions at the time incorrect. Thanks for your concern, though.

Honestly, watching clothes washed in bigger amounts of water and seeing all the dirt come out is satisfying to me .. then seeing clear water after filthy water I feel like I'd wanna try washing a load after it's been washed in your conventional washer to see how much more dirt would come out ..🤔.. love sun dried clothes since I was a little girl..especially sleeping on sun dried sheets.. they smell amazing and I sleep better..

Top tip. To ring out clothes (especially the smaller items) fold them over a bar like you have at 9:10 behind you. Then twist them and keep twisting. The bar (it could be a faucet) will hold the clothing steady (like another person) and you´ll ring out a lot of the water. Edit. I´ve seen your wrist idea that´s what I´m on about. Edit 2 - OK you win you mentioned the tub bar. hahahaha! I really should watch the whole video before commenting.

IF YOU ARE HAND WASHING CLOTHES IN THE BATHTUB, IMPORTANT!!. 1. You should only use liquad soap, as powdered is to much of a pain, to desolve. 2. Fill the tub with warm water add clothes full submerge them. Add soap in a straight line from front to back of bathtub. 3. Swish the clothes around so they absorb the soap then let them soak for 20 minutes. Then swish for 5 minutes and push clothes to back of tub and unplug drain. 3. Then after tub is drained wring out the clothes refill tub with cool water. Then swish and drain and wring and if they still fill dirty after this fill tub, then wring, hang on hangers and dry.

Thank you for this video! I live in an old apartment and it's oddly satisfying to do. I just have one question, but I'm not sure if you have the answer. I use fabric softener and I'm not sure if I should use it like you do with the vinegar, or if I should rinse it again after using it.
@renttogrown30393 жыл бұрын
Great question! You can absolutely do it like I do the vinegar, however I recommend diluting it a bit before adding it to the rinse water just to make sure it won't stain the clothes. There is no need to rinse again after introducing the fabric softener as it isn't typically rinsed out in a conventional washing machine unless an "extra rinse" cycle is used.

I have been doing wash at home for 6 yr. The amount of clothes she doing is way too much to do a good agitation. I started with the same amt thinking it was all good. Wrong. The dirty water is evident with the next wash, I tested taking out some clothes that were supposedly clean in the last wash, they had not been worn since that washing- Ah. The dirty water. Now I do about 1/3 of that amt. And it's done in a stand up machine, with a drain hold/ tube to let the water out. Filling it with a galvanized bucket, I wash twice, and add diluted shampoo for suds. (1/2 solution) Adding to that I put in baking soda to the first rinse and Rinse twice more- just warm water. That's it The BIGGEST tools that I bought for this job, since I knew it was to be long term and I'm older[63] was 1. The cheap plastic portable washing machine from Amazon. It was 90$ and only washes; Not spinning. I put it in the tub and ruined it by not watching that, when I emptied the water into the tub, the water got backed up into the motor. Busted! Now I just use the light weight blue talk plastic (tub) itself as my washing spot. I have great guns/ upper arms too. 2. I got a strong old grandma galvanized 3.5 gal bucket. Also from da Big A. 25$ I have a wringer and mop set, that's used for mopping floors, like a janitors uses. No mop. I wash the clothes. Rinse. Drain. Rinse. Drain. Wring out. Wring out more. The dang jeans, towels, and [yes] sheets are 1000% easier with the wringer. And uhh just look at my upper arms. 👊 Now I use about 5 hangers and slap those puppies up onto the shower curtain rod. Bamm. In about 12 -16 hours, we're good ta go. Per Mildred S. Streator Illinois 1975 M. Illinois. 2016 😃

Hand washing laundry is a chore but someone has to do it.😅😅😅😅 I absolutely cannot rely on my washing machine and dryer they are always breaking.😢😢😢😢😢😢 And my washing machine and dryer are only one year old I purchased them in the beginning of 2023. 😯😯😯😯😯😯😯😯😯😯 These high-tech washing machines and dryers do not last long. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 I have always been hand washing my delicates and many of my clothing by hand for over 35 years. 😊 All you need is plenty of clean freshwater. 💧☺️💧☺️ Two 5 gallon buckets one with holes in it and around it for draining your clothing in it . 🙂 One new plunger with a few holes in it. 🪠🙂🪠🙂🪠🙂 The 5 gallon buckets is good for very small laundry of loads.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Two large rope handle ice buckets one with holes around it and in the bottom for draining your clothing the large rope buckets are good for bigger loads of laundry. 👕👖👕👖👕👖👕 I wash my laundry in the tub or outside in sunny days. 🌞 After my clothes are clean I place them in the bucket with the holes and with clean feet 🦶 I stomp on them to take as much of the water out I also twist by hand the remaining water after that I hang dry it outside or in the basement . It works for me. I even hang dry outside in the winter time as long as it is not raining or snowing. It does take a little more time during the winter to dry but it's worth doing it. First thing you need plenty of water. You need one or two tablespoons of liquid laundry detergent don't overdo the detergent. Never use dry detergent or homemade detergent. Never use store-bought fabric softener or fabric sheets or even fabric beads beads. It has too much chemicals and it leaves a residue in your clothing. Absolutely use white vinegar with some pure lavender oil or your favorite essential oil. If my dryer is working I do use wooly balls with some essential lavender oil in a glass spray bottle i place two or three tablespoons of witch hazel and 20 drops of lavender oil and 10 drops of tea tree oil and some water mix it and spray on the wooly ball two or three times and place it in the dryer with my clothing it makes my clothes smell good. I always love learning new ideas and new ways in cleaning and drying my clothing. So thank you

No, you don't really. Washing machines as we know them have only been a common household item for the average person (at least in the USA) for around 80 to 100 years. Before then "washing machines" were usually hand agitated tubs or a washboard. I haven't made the switch to doing towels, jeans and bedspreads by hand, but I do most everything else by hand and hang them to dry. I feel that by hand washing, I get the really dirty tough stains out better with a hand wash than I ever did with a machine. I can give the stuff I know is heavily soiled a little extra attention when I hand wash. I don't end up having to run it through the wash twice like I did with a machine. Plus its better for my clothes, they last longer, and it's certainly cheaper.

How do i get rid of the bacteria in my clotes in terms of hand-washing? I can't do the process by hand with very hot water. Should i pour some kind of biocide into the bathtub? On the other hand that kind of stuff will harm my hands and maybe my eyes if i am unlucky... i have no washing machine since a month. In my town there is non of these coin-washing-salons too. So i will try your demonstrated method. But i need to get rid of bacteria, i was sick because of bacteria, so i am concerned about bacteria... i think i made my point clear. lol ;-)

That's a great question. Both adding vinegar and drying in the sun will help to eliminate bacteria naturally. If you have the time, you can also apply very hot water at first and then wait for it to cool before touching it. It would be much more time consuming but that could also help to kill the bacteria.

I have dropped that phrase from my vocabulary since filming this video but I genuinely appreciate you calling me on it.
