The old main hasn't been a through route pretty much since the day the belt opened. C&EI and Milwaukee were in a major lawsuit about who actually owned the double track right of way from Poplar Street to Fort Harrison, where the lines split on the North side. Ultimately, they reached an agreement where Milwaukee would use the belt for through traffic, and would only use the old main up to the PRR connection from the south, and only down to Maple avenue from the north. The north segment is completely gone since sometime between 1950-70. The south segment lasted until Conrail dumped the PRR at Terre Haute to the now abandoned Terre Haute, Brazil, and Eastern.

At one time, this now INRD line back in Milwaukee Rd. days went all the way into downtown and went to Terre Haute Union Station.

There are also still some railroad crossings on that one abandoned line that used to be in Fishers and Noblesville, for some reason.
