I think the difference is that against Washignton you win against the pass game more with getting to heinicke than trying to cover 3 standout wide receivers, whereas against the giants they have like... one good receiver, but they can also pass to their RB to cause havoc and Daniel Jones can burn you if you gun for the pass rush. So basically you have to emphasize two different styles of pass defense (while obvious mostly focusing on run defense against either).

I know this game is important to the 49ers, in the sense that they're chasing the #2 seed, but I feel its more important to play the starters conservatively. Rotate starters in and out with 2nd/3rd stringers on both sides of the ball frequently, with the exclusion of Purdy. All the starters have a full season of reps and experience behind them, but Purdy needs more of that if we're going to go deep in the playoffs, so I think its important he builds that experience as much as he can before going into the post season. But everyone else? Let the starters rest a bit, lessen the chances of an injury during these last few games, and give the 2nd/3rd stringers more reps and experience in case we need them later.

the spread is SF by 7, so 30-13 is possible 24-13 more possible still. I would say this has the feeling of a trap game, but with the raiders and cardinals to come, I don't see them looking ahead to a big game.

With Purdy starting anything can happen. This game isn't a lock for a dub. Purdy has been playing great but he's still a rookie. Those passes straight to DBs who have dropped the ints will eventually catch up. Washington is a tough team with a solid defense. 49ers need to play this like a playoff game.

This game will come down to one thing: can the Commanders move the ball. If so, they have a good chance. The Commander's Defense is pretty ferocious and is going to shut down SF mostly. So the game will very likely be decided by what team is better conditioned for endurance. A war of attrition. I think the 49ers will dominate the 4th and win a close game 19-16. The play of the Punters might well be a deciding factor in this one.

None of the last 3 defenses were bad, they all had capabilities of getting to the QB, 1 known for doing so and they did but it didn’t make a difference. Purdy can scramble, he can run, his throws have been solid, he’s got CMC, Kittle, Aiyuk, and a few other solids to help keep the play alive. The pressure has to be good enough to stop a loaded team that doesn’t have Deebo in it. He doesn’t need to do much to score they could have run the numbers up and 2 of their last games and didn’t. Missed FG’s too. All that said there’s the Defense and that speaks for itself lol

Sean O'Hayer Difference between this game and the 2019 Falcons game..............Niners won't be missing six defensive starters like they were in that 2019 trap game. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones took advantage of a wounded Niners defense. Taylor Heinecke won't have that luxury.

I'd be happy if the commanders ever manage to get a throw off. If they do, I'm interested to see how Samuel and Dotson can do honestly. The commanders receivers have a really good spread of talent. They'll probably rush more often than not, but if they need to pass they'll spread the ball around (almost incessantly) more likely than not. I just hope the Commanders defense gets St Juste back from his ankle sprain. Hoping for a competitive game, but they've really been suffering with Cole Holcomb out for the season with trying to stop the run... and that's the name of the game against you guys.

This is a key game for the Washington Commanders as they head to Santa Clara to face the hot San Francisco 49ers who is riding their defense as they are only allowing 15 ppg a game and on a 7-game winning streak... San Francisco trying to remain sharp heading into the playoffs. QB Brock Purdy has been a very good game manager as they have relied on their running game in Christian McCaffrey and have weapons in WRs Deebo Samuel and CJ Arouk and finally TE George Kittle.. I like MJD's 27-13 prediction. My one concern, as a Niners fan, is that at the moment Brock is a bit of an unknown to opponents but as the weeks go by, they will be able to gather more and more info about the way he plays from watching tape and this may, and I stress only may, help them find a weakness somewhere or at least be able to predict more about what he is going to do.
