Just before we left to go down to Florida, I made on a piece of paper a Washington DC Metro System Map Legend with all the stations and all the rules listed and taped it to a wall to the right of my closet in my bedroom at home in Falls Church, Virginia.

Two years ago when David Zeitlin and Ann Reed were down in Washington DC at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park, my dad, and his friend walked back to Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan station on the WMATA Red Line to take the elevator down. But I noticed that the elevator wasn't in service, so I ended up taking the long escalator down to the mezzanine level. And I wasn't even too scared after going down.

Dupont Circle is another one of the stations in Washington DC on the WMATA Red Line that have the longest set of escalators on the Q Street entrance which are one hundred eighty-eight feet long going up from the mezzanine and directly up to the street.

On our eighth year of doing the three hour WMATA Red Line ride end to end on a weekday in the summer month of July with my mom is going to be a little different than riding from our normal location in Arlington, Virginia. Me and my mom will be taking the WMATA Blue Line from Van Dorn Street to Metro Center to transfer to the WMATA Red Line train to go to Glenmont and Shady Grove and back to Metro Center to transfer to the WMATA Blue Line to Franconia-Springfield to go directly back to Van Dorn Street located out in Alexandria, Virginia. This is when the WMATA Orange and Silver Line trains are going to be shut down from Memorial Day to Labor Day of 2020. The three stations East Falls Church, Dunn Loring-Merrifield and Vienna Fairfax-GMU will be closed and rebuilt at that time.

Rosslyn, which is the station located in Virginia on the WMATA Orange, Blue and Silver Line trains also has the set of longest escalators going from the upper level of the station to the mezzanine level.

The only time I like to ride three hours on the WMATA Red Line end to end on a weekday in the month of July is from one 'o clock to four 'o clock in the afternoon because I like to ride after lunchtime and after I finish practicing all of my music.

And even when the month of July comes around, I'll take a little video of going the WMATA Blue Line route from Van Dorn Street to Metro Center then transferring to the WMATA Red Line going from Metro Center to Glenmont, then Glenmont to Shady Grove, then Shady Grove to Metro Center, then transfer to the WMATA Blue Line to Franconia-Springfield to take us back to Van Dorn Street.

Definitely a newer car. The automated version albeit robotic and annoying is clearly understandable. Before the older cars you would here: "this is.....*static* right side" And you would be confused about everything else. I will say I'll miss those days if its going to this. Me and my friends would make fun of the garbled static mess that was the stop announcements.

I feel sorry for the driver if he had to go to the bathroom. he have to hold it for an hour. Wikipedia says the trains only go 59mph. I think that's wrong. even in Philadelphia our Broad Street Subway express trains go 70mph. The Washington DC Metro train's seem to go about 70-75 maybe. The new redesigned Metro map is cool!

I think that there should be new signage from the stations on the WMATA Red Line like Glenmont, Silver Spring, the upper level of Fort Totten, Brookland-CUA, Cleveland Park, Van Ness-UDC, Tenleytown-AU, Friendship Heights, Bethesda, Medical Center, Grosvenor-Strathmore, White Flint, Twinbrook, Rockville, and Shady Grove stations with the WMATA Red Line disk, the destinations of Shady Grove and Glenmont along with the mapping below. I should think that those old signs on the WMATA Red Line located in Washington DC and in Montgomery County, Maryland should definitely be thrown away.
