The quarterbacks were Sonny jurgensen, a Hall of famer, billy kilmer, a pro bowler in 1972, and joe theismann, an mvp and super bowl champion

This team was 23rd in rushing yards, and 26th in yards per carry out of 26 teams that season. And yet, the run defense was so strong that Washington outran their opponents by four yards. A very good team overall, and probably the best Washington played under George Allen outside of the 1972 Super Bowl team.

Larry Brown was done, and the organization scrambled to fill the spots with outcast Duane Thomas and drafting Jon Keyworth with their top pick. If not for Sonny going out with a bang, they miss the playoffs

Sonny was rusty in play off game and he had 3 interceptions after coming off bench 4th quarter.

The only reason why the Redskins defeated the Rams at the Los Angeles Coliseum was because the Rams were scared enough of the Dallas Cowboys that they wanted to assure themselves of not seeing them in the Playoffs.

Had the Rams not have turned chicken in Week 13 and the Dallas Cowboys beaten the Raiders at Oakland in Week 14, could the Cowboys have sneaked their way over the Redskins into the Playoffs?

Sonny was getting too old he was 40 and did ok until playoff game we got blasted Rams

@@Jiltedin2007 yes mostly Kilmer. But Sonny came off in relief & started a few games. Kilmer started playoff game los Angeles then jurgensen entered late but we lost 19-10
