Washington’s Tibet Bill: US Support For Dalai Lama Provides India With A Diplomatic Leverage | CRUX

The U.S. Congress has passed a bill that is expected to upgrade U.S. support for Tibetans in key areas, including sanctioning Chinese officials if they try to appoint the next Dalai Lama.
The Tibetan Policy and Support Act (TPSA) was passed by the House and Senate as an amendment to the $1.4 trillion government-spending bill and the $900 billion coronavirus relief package.
The bill has been termed as historic by the exiled Tibetan govt. Lobsang Sangay, president of the Central Tibetan Administration, described the legislation as a victory for the Tibetan freedom struggle. “We have been pushing for this for the last two years,” he said. He said the move by the US Congress was a tribute to the great legacy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and to the courage and solidarity of six million Tibetans inside Tibet.

India won't play the tibet card but india will save it for the future and india will often take the tibet card to negotiate but won't play officially to counter china, like the situations of galwan valley, its like a trump card of India's diplomacy to counter that if china sticking it nose in India's kashmir or north east matters of any of those. Problems I see why India is not Officially speaking on Tibet's freedom : 1. India's dependence on Chinese products (including raw materials for medicine). This is now played against with the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign and is yet doing well. 2. China's pressure to increase militant insurgency in NE Part of India. While development is taking speed in NE, it's necessary that the "Environmental NGOs" understand the need of development & not take everything as "Harm to nature" as it would then end up making nothing for the people to provide jobs. India always takes supportive stand with its neighbouring small Countries. But in the case of some the reverse treatment is unwelcome.
