Even if the wizards got better offers (which they did) Beal could use his no trade clause to force himself onto a team he prefers, the Wizards had no say in it.

Given that is the case, your options are either to suck it up and give beal up for a fraction of his value or keep him on the roster. You just saw how the past 5 years went keeping him, are you really gonna do it for 4 more or are you gonna suck it up and bite the bullet and start a rebuild. Wizards still own their picks which is a start. Hopefully Porzingis brings back something decent

As a wizard fan , Beal was only saying things like I want to be a wizard for life because it was the biggest payday for him. Tommy Shephard has been fired because of the Bradley Beal contract. Now we all know this move was terrible because of the no trade Claus Beal had. So when he waived it , it was because the wizards needed to move on and yes getting fleeced was part of what had to happen to get rid of that contract. Now porzingis has gained interest from Portland and we might get the 3rd pick back with him so yes we are over hauling these trades to get the rebuild we need.

Growing up when the Wizards were then the Bullets, they sucked! Outside of them winning their one & only championship in 1978 they have been a poorly run team for four decades. Moving forward, they maybe on to something with new management. Their new GM Will Dawkins did the right thing by trading Beal, because they wasn’t even a playoff team, it gives them financial flexibility & draft picks to help the Wizards rebuild.
