Washoe County Commission meeting opens with an invocation by Reno Satanic

Reno Satanic, for the first time, read the religious invocation at today’s Washoe County Board of Commissioners meeting.
The group’s organizer, Jason Miller, read a statement encouraging “nobility and justice to the decisions made in this chamber today. The new age is dawning that these new decisions will play a role in.”
“Not only is this the first time this has been done, this is the first Satanic invocation to be given in front of a body of government in the state of Nevada,” the group posted on Instagram.
Washoe County’s Bethany Drysdale confirmed it was the group’s first appearance.
When asked if future readings at the local city meetings would occur, the group on Facebook said they were unsure.

From the Reno Gazzette Journal. "Later in the meeting, when it was time for commissioner comments, Andriola said she would like to publicly state that she disagreed with the invocation presenter. She then asked the county's legal counsel - Nate Edwards of the district attorney's office - to clarify the county's requirements when honoring requests from groups wishing to deliver the invocation. Edwards said that satanic invocations are part of a trend. "The federal law is that you don't have to open your floor for invocations," he said. "If you do open your floor for invocations, then federal law is that you have to let everybody have a turn signing up. So I guess you take the good with the bad.""

No you don’t. Popular government. The people decide. Want to put this one to a vote? There is a genuine concern about mixing religion and politics, which I respect. Some invocation is what the people want. Quite a lot of atheists and agnostics support this too, figuring it is a better chance to pressure some people to behave. So, there is a chaplain in Congress. More than one. This group, I have my doubt about the kind of ethics they will bring to the public square.

If anyone watching this video finds this offensive, then thank Commissioner Clara Andriola (and Governor Joe Lombardo) for this occurring. If you notice, Commissioner Andriola is not seated during the invocation, yet she is directly responsible for the invocation occurring in the first place as she opened the door by bringing forth the idea that invocations can be read at the beginning of County Commission meetings. Where was she during the invocation? Literally hiding in the bathroom. Likewise, Governor Lombardo is responsible for this because he is the one who unilaterally appointed Clara Andriola to the vacant seat on the Washoe County Board of Commissioners. Make sure you thank Commissioner Andriola and Governor Lombardo with a phone call for their poor foresight and character judgement. Clara Andriola is up for reelection this year.

Reading these comments illustrates the divide between those that care about their liberty and those that do not. If you have a problem with the invocation, don't listen. If the government is requesting an invocation, all have the opportunity to speak. No matter what they say. If you do not like this, don't you fret, your liberty is slowly but surely being taken away from you, just like you want. Enslavement is right around the corner. Just keep voting, serf.

This is a city meeting for a area called Washoe. In the US you can request to have a religious reading before the meeting. It's open to all, but traditionally has been mostly Christian. These guys are the church a Satan and atheist organization

Freedom of Religion has always been around. However, religion doesn't usually play a part in the government (separation of church and state). When the governor and commissioner here made it so that these meetings were opened with prayer, they have to accept all types of prayer, because of Freedom of Religion. They can not demand that it is exclusively Christian prayer, because that violates the first amendment. According to the first amendment, Satanism is just as valid as Christianity.
