Thanks for the great video. That gives me more confidence to start heading off-road! Would love to see a follow-on video to Moore River from Seabird. If I'm out and about, I most well make a full day of it! 😉 Thanks again for the details on a good beginner track. 😀

Wow, haven't been up to Seabird for years. Looks like the erosion along the beach has been really bad. Last time I was there there was no sea wall and a road and car park (I think) more or less where the sea wall is now.

I haven’t driven along the beach but I’ve heard it’s pretty bad. The coastal track is a good easy drive though 👍

diff locks? do u have a map of this track? cheers
@perth4b4adventures
@perth4b4adventures 2 жыл бұрын
No diff locks in the Jeep bud and you don’t need a map just take the Guilderton turn off from Indian Ocean drive, follow it the the end and veer left at the end of the road. Follow any track they all lead north just don’t head down to the beach it’s very soft.

Nice vid. Does the rear tow bar/ hitch count as at least one recovery point ?
@perth4b4adventures
@perth4b4adventures 2 жыл бұрын
Yes mate as long as it has a rated recovery point inserted into the hitch. Check out the video I did on recovery gear 👍

The Wreck of the Guilt Dragon (Vergulde Draeck) “Abre los Ojos “ .. Spanish for “Open your Eyes” Aka Abrolhos..

I'd love to be able to find out the correct origin of the Abrolhos Islands name. There is another version quoting a Portugease phrase meaning 'spiked obstructions' and we have never managed to pin down which is the right version.
@R00RAL
@R00RAL 3 жыл бұрын
@@WesternAustraliaNowAndThen My sisters husband is Spanish. From him & sailing I know Spanish & Portuguese share similarities & speak / similar. There is actually an Abrolhos Archipelago off the coast of Brazil to the North East. Portuguese “ Abre los Olhos” again “ Keep your Eyes Open. to say it in Portuguese sounds like “Abrolho “.. I hope that answers your question. However I wish to fire another question out to either military or merchant / civilian navigators/coxswains .. Why oh why do they still call it the Tropic of Capricorn & Tropic of Cancer ? It should actually be Tropic of Pisces & the Tropic of Virgo. Are the Cartographers wrong, are the maps fraud or are we being mis lead to what date time actually is ?
@R00RAL
@R00RAL 3 жыл бұрын
@@WesternAustraliaNowAndThen To make it easier to understand what I said about the Abrolhos. Think about the name George. In both Spanish & Portuguese it’s Pronounced “ Horhay. “ We spell it Jorge. So if you say “ Abre jos Ohos “ quick enough it sounds like “Abrolhos “ .. Spanish or Portuguese.. one in the same in this instance. I know “Abre los Ojos “ was on the charts on board the Batavia. I believe Comanduer Francisco Pelsaert would of let out some serious expletives once Captain Ariaen Jacobsz worked out where the hell they were. The Captain actually thought they were a further 600 Nm to the West. However the storm that caught them, plus the Captains plans of Mutiny (Which Francisco Pelsaert did not know about.) Put them on the reef off our coast. How do I know “ Abre los Ojos “ was on the chart ? Well the Captain made plans with the long boat to make way to shore off our coast. Landing just North of what is now Kalbarri. Making way North towards Batavia .. Now known as Jakarta. So he must of known about our coast line in proportion to his destination. However as a sailor, to take a 40 foot open long boat to Jakarta from Kalbarri basically.. is a tremendous effort. Seas up that way would be seriously hazardous not to mention the intense Sun.

Hi Paul, love your channel mate, since I've subscribed I don't miss an episode, quick question I have the exact same Jeep GC, same 40mm suspension lift and I want to fit 32.6 inch tyres on stock 18inch rims, my options are running 285 65 18 like you, now, my jeep is not loaded like yours, it's always pretty empty (light) do you think, it will still rub near the full line? Second option 265, 70 18 which is same outer diameter 32.6inch, or a bit smaller size, 275, 65 18 which is 32 inch tyre what would you recommend? Thabk you!
@perth4b4adventures
@perth4b4adventures 3 жыл бұрын
Hi mate if I had the choice again I would probably go the smaller tyre. Mine only rubs offroad when flexed inwards so it all depends on what you intend to do off road. I’m about to upgrade my rims and move the wheel out slightly to see if it solves the issue so maybe look at that if you want to run the bigger tyre 👍
@fernandoharo1661
@fernandoharo1661 3 жыл бұрын
@@perth4b4adventures amazing thank you very much mate, yup I was looking at getting some rims with a smaller offset to push the tire out a bit, but perhaps you're right a slightly smaller tyre will keep me out of troubles without any extra money being spent, thank you heaps, can't wait for that video to come out

This is my local. The number of people getting stuck, no recovery gear, no tyres down etc has been crazy. The beach is treacherous for the unprepared. Good video (less music would be good…)
