While prices have gotten insane lately, i have always thought the wasrs were the standard akm to grab as long as you check for canting on the rear and front sight bases , love every one of them i have owned over the years, these will be sorely missed whenever imports get cut off or Romarm stops production.
@papakalashnikova2639
@papakalashnikova2639 2 жыл бұрын
An AK collection should always have a good ol' WASR in it IMO, who knows when they'll stop sending them, sucks because until we can get some solid AK manufacturers in the states the WASR is the cheapest "proven" rifle you can get.
@skinwalkerhiddenvalleyranch
@skinwalkerhiddenvalleyranch Жыл бұрын
@Slugr126 yes, canted sights can be fixed via several methods, any standard gunsmith should be able to do a cant fix. Take a piece of string and hold one end on the sight post and the other to the rear sight notch, if there is extreme canting it will be pretty easy to see

20 years of shooting the AK rifle with tens of thousands of rounds fired and probably 15 different variants I have never had a shepherd's hook fail me
@papakalashnikova2639
@papakalashnikova2639 2 жыл бұрын
I personally have had an issue with a shepherds hook bending out of place enough to let the trigger pin on my FEG AMD walk out on me while shooting. It's not going to usually fail but a plate is a way stronger replacement IMO. Also, it's easier to take out and replace than the hook if you like deep cleaning your rifles, which I like to do. Should've said that too or worded it differently instead but I was just saying stuff off the top of my head, my bad.

I used to own an original converted Wasr-10 rifle. It was definitely made with mismatched parts, and had canted sights. I gave it away to a friend and that was a major mistake. I have a Tula Arms Kit build now and that's a solid rifle but I miss my WASR-10. Also, Two River Arms in OKC will fix any flaws the WASR may have. They call it the WASR improvement program.

Thanks for doing this review and for sharing your rifle with us. The AK or AKM is solid platform. I currently own a Century Arms VSKA which I am very happy with. I had a choice to buy the VSKA or a gen 2 WASR 10. I wanted to go with the WASR 10, but the WASR 10 looked very beat up, it had rust on it and pitting on the metal like you described in your video, so I went with the VSKA instead.

I have the V2 Black Widow. No rust, but parkerized and un-glamourous finish. Who cares. As I say about the WASR10, "Ugly as sin, tough as nails." No wobble in any mags I put it (American, Korean, Siberian, Bulgarian). No issues. I think my ZPAP m70 may just be a better firearm overall, but the Romanian WASR10 will not fail you.

@@christopherrobin361 I understand where you're coming from, but I'm a gun collector so I like for all of my firearms to be in pristine condition. You know what's better than a WASR 10 with rust? A WASR 10 with no rust.

@@NovaPrime77 Lol, true. But since I work over time a bit and hit the gym and train in MMA a couple of times a week, I get the itch to do to the range at times. I've only owned two firearms I maintained but never fired, and so they were good for trades. Have you checked out the SAM7? People say at has a good finish but the Bulgarian stuff is very pricey. I went with Zastava and if you are a collector, it's better than the WASR10s finish. Both Serbian AKs felt like they had just produced them right out of the box.

I like my WASR more. Not a fan of the button to remove the dust cover on the M70 (had to send mine in for repair because it stuck). I owned one of each and bought a second WASR. I would recommend an ALG trigger and perhaps new furniture for it.
@bmphil3400
@bmphil3400 2 жыл бұрын
The M70 is a good deal heavier. They have longer gas tubes, heavier trunions etc. If you get one with the grenade launcher cut off then the gas block is heavy too. The thickness of the receiver is 1.5 mm instead of 1 mm and they have the big front trunion. I would go AKM pattern for parts compatibly. East German, Hungarian, Romanian, Russian, Bulgarian, Polish, Egyptian Maadi (Steyr) will all be pretty close to the same parts.

Hahahah I like the black furniture it comes with. I'll get better tacticool furniture when I can afford zenitco but I bought an all black WASR 10 online bc it looked cooler than another one with wood furniture and it was priced pretty much the same. With that said I'm looking at a WASR 10/63 for 700 on that same website but the lever to hold the gas tube looks perpendicular up and down and I've not seen that on other AK's. I just hope it was only pushed down too far and not loose so much that it looks like that.

How hard can it be to dimple the damn receivers!!
@papakalashnikova2639
@papakalashnikova2639 2 жыл бұрын
hah it's not hard at all, it's more of a style choice, the WASR-10 originally came in with a single stack 10rd magazine and there was no need for dimples since it wouldn't even interact with the skinny magazine anyways. You CAN dimple your WASR with a couple jigs and a press if you really wanted too though.
@aLoanWolf

@@papakalashnikova2639 I was told you can’t dimple a WASF because it would weaken the steal by thinning it out too much..
@papakalashnikova2639
@papakalashnikova2639 2 жыл бұрын
@@aLoanWolf Ive seen a few DIY dimple jobs on WASRs and the few people I've seen didnt seem to have issues with their rifles. Could possibly cause some weakness but nothing that could cause a real difference, most of the stress on the receiver is at the front where the trunnion is riveted and I think the magwell is far enough back for that to not be a real issue. Then again this is just my believe on it, I could be wrong.
@bmphil3400
@bmphil3400 2 жыл бұрын
WASR was made originally from a single stack 10 round receiver. They milled them out and put in spacer plates instead of dimples to make them fit dual stack mags. If you look inside there is a little welded rail on each side of the mag.....it's not a problem. The dimple is just a stamping that took out the welding steps on the spacer plates..... I wouldn't try and dimple these receivers just for cosmetic reasons. If I wanted dimples I would have the gun rebuilt on a new receiver....which is not worth it.
