I'm here because of Caroline Winkler. I'm loving your content and channel already! Pure, raw, (even brutal) honesty is legitimately a rare trait nowadays. We need more of it in today's culture/world. Edit: 08:20 ahhhh I could not agree more! I really dislike those mass produced knickknacks. There's no life in it or story behind it.. The likelihood of one of your neighbors owning that same piece is very high. I have found the most random of things make the best bookshelf decor. Vintage cameras, small moody lights to accentuate your books, a couple collectible items, colored glass vases, etc.

Grommets do kind off give off bathroom curtain vybes but they also make the curtains easy to pull and last longer than fabric loops which tend to tear with use. I think they are ok if the rest of the curtain looks to have a nice quality dense type of fabric.

Trust me Paige, you do not want to see the terrible concrete on my patio. The builders did a terrible job. It’s cracking, it has drops of paint, and who knows what else. But it’s a small area, so a nice outdoor rug hides most of it. There may come a time when I have the 💵 to fix the concrete patio and expand it. Till then, I’m happy to have “wasted” $60 on a nice neutral cream indoor/outdoor rug that can be easily vacuumed AND hosed, and hides the mess underneath.

I think it’s hers bc she has the same setup and I see some IKEA lanterns outside that I know she has-LOL! I know she’s going to have a laugh about this and will probably say she’s “KZbin Famous” when I tell her about it tomorrow. In her defense, she built a Modern Farmhouse home with a heavy emphasis on Modern [more specifically MCM] and just a little bit of Farmhouse. The bench was her “Farmhouse” influence…plus, you’re right, her kids love the bench and it provided a seat with easy cleanup when they are working on projects at the kitchen table.

Love your channel Paige! I would love to hear your thoughts about all things rugs - it’s such an important aspect of a room and I am at a loss of how to choose one. People talk time and time again about size, but never about style. I need an expert’s opinion! Xx

Hahaha love these! We did a whole wall of 30-40 empty black frames maybe 5-7 years ago for a Halloween party and a friend said it best-- it REALLY disturbed them and they felt as if souls were removed from the photos -- I mean we were going for a creepy Victorian vibe so yeah I guess that's why we did it?? I just thought it looked cool and I needed to spook up a large space -- but for everyday decor?? Not for me 💀

It would be great if you could address the root cause of these home-decor atrocities-consumer culture, insecure self concept, class anxiety, cranked up to 11 by social media-rather than just saying “don’t”.

when she says you should have your own style and not follow trends that is the "why" to take a picture from a magazine and have it in your home that's not you own unique style and i agree... like her arvin and keva says have your own style if you need help arranging that's one thing but following trends is just blah

Uh bad taste, no interest in decor, no money, just learning… 15 years ago I thought grommet curtains were hip. As someone older, wiser and most importantly, a little more money, now I’m thoroughly disgusted by them.

Our outdoor rug is specifically used for keeping our feet from burning on the Trex deck that was here when we moved in. I can’t believe how hot it gets and the puppy has to walk across it to the yard. I hate outdoor rugs but I guess they’re needed sometimes.

Paige, How do you feel about those organization shows like The Home Edit or Marie Kondo? I personally like Marie Kondo but the The Home Edit girls give me anxiety for some reason. It's so pretty but too perfect.
@stormwright8300

Marie Kondo is cool. Her advice is great, even though people misrepresent her words. Her folding techniques are also super helpful. I feel like I've seen Home Edit on KZbin, but I couldn't get through an episode. I thought they were obnoxious and a little disrespectful. They talked so much about nothing, it didn't seem like they included the homeowner in anything, which made it feel impersonal and unsustainable. In the episode I saw, as soon as the girl left, they called her stuff "crap", then they ate cupcakes-she was a baker- in her room and got crumbs everywhere. And in one of the drawers, the lady had an adult toy. When they were cleaning, one of the girls found it and her assistant tried to tell her to put it down. She finally figured out what it was and put it back, but it felt so rude. Like they didn't even cut that footage. I know she probably consented or something, but I know I would not have been ok with that footage.

A lot of times on the bottom of the curtains with grommets they have an opening that you can slide a rod through and hang them upside down. Cut the section with the grommets off and either sew the hem or use hem tape

@@susanma4899 you just buy them longer than you need, the curtains I got from Amazon were only an extra $2 to get them 11 inches longer, but still were cheaper than a lot of other curtains I was looking at

That’s exactly what I did some time ago. I needed 4 panels, but they were too short.So I bought five. I cut off the grommet strip off each. I cut the fifth panel in four equal pieces. I stitched one piece to each of the 4 panels on the end that I had cut off and hemmed them to length. Whala!

100%! When an accent color is overused it's no longer an "accent" but becomes the main color. The whole point of an accent is to bring in a 3rd color (or more) so it doesn't look flat and boring, or one dimensional.

@Mod0308

The empty frames….put an interesting antique/vintage piece in them. A smaller framed portrait or art piece (small pieces are often more affordable and adding a frame around its frame increases it’s visual impact), a small clock, a piece of textile art, your grandpas war medals, your grandmas iconic bead necklace…something that usually ISNT hung on a wall, no longer has functional purpose but has an interesting design or enough sentimental value that it shouldn’t be shoved in a drawer or cluttering a table. It becomes an engaging display that encourages conversation and ESPECIALLY a beautiful way to keep the memories of your relatives that have passed on alive. People will ask “what is this?” Or “who did that belong too and why do you have it hanging?” bc the act of putting a frame around it is a visual cue that the piece is important for the homeowner which is intriguing to people
