8 months later, you probably know the answer, but in case you don't: Audio-wise, they are both the same. After 720p the sound quality is at the same bitrate. Video-wise, Original has bigger resolution (if the video was uploaded in more than 1080 pixels) than 1080p. I also heard original buffers faster, can't confirm this, my 25 mbps has no problems buffering at any quality.

Okay well this is only because KZbin makes it like that, if you was to render a video in 1080p but not have KZbin compress it etc then it would be 24000. we're both right in our ways :)

Actually 720p runs at a bitrate of: 12000 and 1080p runs at a bitrate of: 24000.
