Wasteland Baby - Hozier (Acoustic Cover)

A lovesong to the end of the world by the amazing Hozier.
I posted a cover of this a few months back but took it down after a while because I was not happy with it at all. It was rushed and very sloppy. I really love this song and I wanted to do it justice this time. Hope you enjoy it!

Hey man, amazing cover. I have been watching your singing progress and it's great, would you mind sharing some tips/tutorials on how you improved your singing so well?

Hey there :) First of all big big thanks, Im really happy to hear that :) I can share a few things, but even though I have been taking vocal lessons for about a year now, I am no professional so everything might be a bit vague, but I try my best :D In my experience there are just as many psychological barrieres as technical barriers to singing (sometimes they go hand in hand). But both can be worked on. It takes a while to get used to and appreaciate your own voice. Dont be too hard on yourself, especially when you are all alone, you should never be ashamed of a missed note ore a strange sound. It is important to be always be confident, pronounce words loud and clearly and not hide behind a "mumble". One thing that helped me a lot was to simply smile while singing. Or (in case of a sad song) just open my mouth wide horizontally. It made everything sound a lot clearer, and it also just makes you feel more joy and confidence! On the more technical side of things I highly recommend practicing diaphragmatic breathing (breathing into your belly rather than into your lungs) I can't go into more deatil here but there are a ton of tutorials out there, and that is definitly a very big game changer for your singing and the first sing you learn with every vocal coach :D For difficult songs, or if you want to work on your range, it also helps to do a few warm up excercises like scales and glissandos (again just google "vocal warm up" and you'll find a ton of examples ;) ) And last but not least: RECORD YOURSELF (sound and video). It doesnt have to be high quality and You don't have to show it to anyone, but it really really does help to get to know your voice better. Don't ever feel ashamed if it sounds different than what you expect, just keep analysing your recordings on what you want to do different and then keep trying until it gets better :D I hope this was at least somewhat helpful ;)
