G'day Firebird. I was born in 1967. I love older generation vehicles because you could look at a car and have a reasonable chance of namiing it by it's shape. These days all the cars, in Australia at least, look the same.

The trouble is Australia, especially here in the state of Victoria, the government and it doesn’t matter of what persuasion, the politicians are Delirious with the Easy cash flow of speed cameras, unfortunately average motorist is just an easy, lazy target which are just a “ milch cow” to boost shit loads of money for them and it is now so entrenched that it doesn’t matter how much we motorists jump up and down they just dismiss it as they know we don’t have a hope in hell of any fairness, actually I have been told by a senior Victoria police member now retired that the threatened and actual police strikes that happened here in Victoria quite a few years ago now and stopped all traffic fines to the motorist told the government basically if you pay us what we want we know a way that can deliver Huge amounts of money that will cover all our pay rises and also deliver you the government insane amounts of cash for your coffers and we the Victoria police will make it our business that will happen by all our members and it will be a “win win” so that is basically why Victoria is so Enibriated by easy motorists money under the governments public brainwashing as they will not call them speed cameras but safety cameras, Victoria is the worlds capital of speed cameras, what the government and police should be doing about road safety is catching all the lunatic, drugged, drunk, hopeless morons etc off our roads but you know why they won’t or can’t be bothered to? BECAUSE THRE IS NO MONEY IN IT!

Volkswagen Thing at 1:52. We did not get these in Australia but here earlier in 1968 VW Australia developed and sold the VW Country Buggy. Dealer launch film from 1968 : kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWXFgZKnpNKDe9U and a survivor car : kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6OwYXavpLKbe5Y Lots of standard VW parts from the Beetles made here and simple design meant it was the cheapest new car in Australia at the time. When the Country Buggy was on sale VW Germany had started designing the Thing so were not to interested. Did not sell well enough to save VW Australia, so the factory at Clayton Victoria closed down but later made Nissans and then the HSV cars I understand. Maybe assembly of other cars too. Tooling sold to the Philippines for production there I understand.

Many years ago, here in Australia, we used to have 'real' bacon. As time passed, people started wanting more meat on their bacon and so the big round bit came attached to the bacon. I cook that bit separately to the 'real' bacon.

Mate that Fairlane Cobra, was exactly the same body as the 68 Torino Gt. Im surprised you havent seen them as a Yankee. The 69-70 shaped Torino GT was the car that Ford Australia took inspiration from when designing the XA Falcon GT 2 Door coupe. when you see one youll see the resemblance.

Chevy Nova at 2:12. Holden, or as imposed by GM, in 1962 tested the market for these selling a handful of Canadian built right hand drive Chevy II version four door car through Holden dealers. Very expensive for a six here and not strong enough here, GM hoped to replace Holdens with the Chevy II. The numerous reasons why they failed and we continued with Holdens are covered here by Shannons. The price comparisons from 1962 here are very interesting, converted from the Australian Pound currency then : kzbin.info/www/bejne/jniwpWOqo8mpsKs Soon in the vid the muscle car 327 V8 two door is covered. This was an imported Nova that was circuit raced very successfully by top racer Norm Beechy here from about 1965 despite having to use the standard drum brakes. I understand that the Norm Beechy Nova was the only Nova circuit raced in the world. Holden were pleased in that the had the 327 V8 disc braked Monaro under development. When the Monaro GTS was released Norm soon successfully upgraded to that for racing as a better alternative to the Nova.

As of right now, Ford USA is leaving the door open for the Bronco and Maverick for Ford Australia. Not confirmed as of now due to high demand of the vehicles in North America. The Ford F-150 (XLT and Lariat) are confirmed for Australia and is coming next year. The Chevrolet Corvette C8 is sold at GMSV (General Motors Special Vehicles) dealers in Australia.

The Chevrolet Corvette C8 is sold at the few GMSV (General Motors Special Vehicles) ex Holden left dealers in Australia. Something like 250 cars allocated but snapped up within hours of announcement. In right drive ex factory due to mid engine makes right drive from factory simpler with no engine components to get in the way of steering column. Dealers, well some, making a killing if they get one by charging the customer about ten times the usual dealer delivery charges on a take it or leave it basis. One of the first here : kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3rYqZiEeLWseac. Big luxury car tax on it too. To protect the now non existent Australian car manufacturing industry.
