Klaas Jan Mulder, in mijn beleving, dé grootmeester, in opbouw, verfijnde registratie en emotie. Jij Gert laat horen dat jij een buitengewoon talent voor opbouw, registratie, en gevoel hebt. Het is dan een kwestie van tijd en veel studie om ook grootmeester te worden. Nu een jaar later weer een paar keer beluisterd. Krijg er nog steeds kippenvel van en een brok in mijn keel. Heerlijk dat tempo! En niet te vergeten wat een geweldig mooi orgel.

Super gespeeld Gert, ik vind dit het allermooiste stuk ooit gemaakt door Klaas Jan Mulder. Ik kan er elk moment naar luisteren. Het verveeld nooit. Het was het eerste stuk dat ik 5 dagen na zijn dood op KZbin heb gezet. Dit kwam uit de Michaelskerk te Zwolle.

This is still wonderful. Gert is really flying at 5:10 onwards. I use this as music on my local gym treadmill. As I also conduct and play "air organ" they think I'm mad! The look [of triumph?] from Gert at the end says it all. I went from Devon UK to hear him live in Booysaal [??] some while back. Must be due another trip soon ...

Thanks again for another superb *performance*. (I say, 'performance,' as opposed to playing all the right notes (difficult enough, but not the same.) The other thing which strikes me is how ignorant some people are - to be talking, loudly, in the church whilst this sublime music is being played. Fortunately, Gert and his registrants (and the organ, of course) are more than a match for these buffoons.

Writing from my own experience, it is the fact that this performance took place in a *church* which may have been the problem. People are so used to treating the organ as 'background music' before a service, that the habit is difficult to break, and we must also face the fact that not everyone is musically sensitive. That said, I agree with your comment, overall; the music should have been enough to command silence from those present.

I Can't understand that some people can be chattering, as you call it, when hearing beautiful divine music like this! In small churches in Norway we are not used to hear big concert pieces like this, and if we are lucky to hear a great post- or preludium sometimes, all of the people in the church do not say a Word, and we also applause the organist and want to hear more.

There may have been a tour of the church going on, and this video may be a filmed rehearsal. An interesting point is that there was no applause and complete silence after Gert finished this magnificent performance. Please also notice that the organist and console are not visible from the floor of the church; a group of tourists might not not know whether they should. Merely blaming the Philistines is unfair and simplistic.

Mooi gespeeld en met gevoel zoals dit hoort bij dit lied, altands dat vind ik, zelf speel ikdit lied en haar, inprovisaties van pachebel, ook erg mooie muziek, en zeker voor de toonladder kunstenaars een mooi iets.. This organ is not as affected by wind as some but it is on the edge on the last chord, you can tell there is not quite enough wind to keep the pipes in tune.

Another excellent job my friend. LIke the resonance of the organ too. Ever thought about performing: Barber's or Albinoni's Adagio's. They are great emotionfilled compostitions and like to get your feel for them.. They always make great recital/concert additions as they appeal to a greater audience then other compositions I believe.

Just goes to prove: with these old mechanical-action organs "It takes a village" to get those stops pulled! Seems the windchests were struggling at the end with the burden of so many stops pulled, so some pitch sag. (Maybe just needed tuning ?) But lovely, nonetheless. 👍

het valt me op dat niemand zo'n orgel echt aanbiedt als het ware, zou toch een hoop mee te verdienen moeten vallen als je op die manier wat meer reclame voor je orgel maakt en dan kunnen de nu soms veel te hoge prijzen ook wat omlaag. ook door mensen te laten spelen op dagen dat de kerk open is zou m.i. meer mensen naar de orgelmuziek trekken.

Twee jaar na mijn laatste reactie deze video weer eens beluisterd naar aanleiding van de restauratie van het orgel. De gevoelens blijven hetzelfde. Brok in mijn keel en kippenvel. Wat een prachtige klank heeft dit orgel en wat maak jij een feest van dit stuk van KJM. Hopelijk wordt je binnenkort eens uitgenodigd voor een concert op dit (gerestaureerde) juweel.

goodchappy Unless the organ is being hand-blown (unlikely) there should be plenty of wind from the electric blower. Whether the design of the mechanism is capable of delivering enough wind to the pipes is another matter. In times past, I suspect that the organist would have to be much more careful in his choice of stops, pushing in those which were unnecessary as louder ones were drawn. It may be counterintuitive, but adding a stop which you cannot really hear does *nothing* at all for the volume, and only adds potential out-of-tuneness. On many instruments of ordinary size, 'full organ' often consists of only 3 or 4 loud stops.
