Watch as Poland celebrated Armed Forces Day with a military parade on Tuesday 15 August.
More than 2000 soldiers and hundreds of tanks, fighter jets and other military vehicles paraded through Warsaw for the annual event that commemorates Poland’s victory over the Soviet Union’s Red Army in 1920.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has made boosting the armed forces a priority for the country’s ruling nationalists Law and Justice (PiS), and with the election campaign in full swing, the immense display of military hardware provides a chance to burnish their security credentials.

As a Dutch, with Polish family, it's both beautifull and scary to see. Scary in a way realising why aren't we, the Netherlands, aware and building up too, and beautifull to see Poland honoring their "never again", where others forgot their "nie wieder" I am thankfull for Polands actions in WW2, the sacrifices they made liberating The Netherlands. And i am thankfull for Poland now, a strong ally and powerhouse in Europe and NATO. I hope that we, The Netherlands, soon make a step in the right way too, into Polands footsteps. Because the Netherlands has chosen not to embrace letting people know how to use fire arms and having a national guard. People pre-trained voluntarily with firearms and guerilla tactics that work in our environment. After all violence is strictly prohibited, even when necessary. The weakness and the lack of willingness to perform civic duty is infuriating. After all, civic service has died when we embraced the free market the way it is. Nationalism is dead and can you blame us, what is there about our country to love and most importantly sacrifice for. You don't even get the opportunity, unless you make it your vocation with mostly low paid wages. It isn't even economically viable to sacrifice time from work or family.

There were Soviet bases 32 km from Warsaw that didn't get involved. A strong Poland is in the best interests of the US, UK, and the EU "Core" (Germany, France, Italy, Spain). The Russians have tried many times to rule all of Europe and Eurasia, by becoming the most powerful land power from Lisbon to Vladivostok. To achieve this, Moscow has placed its aims straight to Berlin, and then Paris. Most of the time they failed, because Russia had to deal with powers like the Austria-Hungary Empire, and the Ottoman Empire. Once both threats ceased to exist, Lenin tried it this time, under a new pretext, called "Communism", and wanted to march "Za Zapad". Poland brought his plans to end, at least until WWII. But as you all remember during the Cold War, the GDR for Moscow was like a modern-day LPR/DPR. For the muscovites, the GDR was going to be the spearhead for a further push to the West, that is the Benelux, Bonn, and then Paris. And all of that happened because Poland fell under Muscovy's claws. The war is being fought in Ukraine, because the Russians had no pretext to attack them once more, with NATO being a powerful deterrent. So, Putin decided that they have to put an end to Ukraine's statehood, to increase Moscow's leverage vis-a-vis the West. If Russia succeeds in Ukraine, Moscow will feel that they are in a better position to one day fight NATO, and in this case... Poland. Just remember that that was what happened a century ago, the "Soviets" (Russians) went after Poland once they managed to prevail in Ukraine. It's going to happen once more, if it's allowed to happen. However, regardless of what might happen further East, Poland is the "Collective West"s Easternmost Fortress to keep Russia away from Western Europe. Nothing has changed too much compared to the 19th or 20th centuries, and as such Poland is key for peace to prevail to the west of Germany, as well as to keep Central Europe safe. And if you don't believe me, the Russians recurrently show simulated videos of their army marching to Western Europe, precisely through Poland. If they fail in Poland as it's happening in Ukraine, they are done; no matter if one day Belarus ceases to exist as a nation.
