I worked w/ the elderly before this. But not long ago, a kid vomited on himself. & He was all upset,"like can u help me clean it?" Ugh little dude, he's like 5-7 or something (he's such a high behavior kid too!) u can! But he's was just in his little existence looking up... At me, & I was just like wever. I dry heaved, I'm not gonna even lie. I've actually Never have ever had to clean up another person's vomit. That wasn't kin to me. Anyways, anyone could pass some things ... But I do think it requires some emotional intelligence. Bc he is 1 of the smallest kids. Yet he pretty much runs everyone! I always just picked up a lotta ppl were projecting their own weirdness & plain ignorant stupidity onto him, prob trying to say it was me instead but if ppl really wanted to be real, I've actually been the all above person. that I don't always care to even mention bc what's it to u, them whoever thats not in my real life anyways? I saw it when it happened. Called it when it happened. Called some ppl out when it happened. Saw it happening before it happened. Predicted it! That hed get his. When I actually verbalized it, bc it was a mount of of ish I didn't like, it really felt like a whole 1 me vs a herd of sheep's ... Bc in my head, it really is Common Sense tho. The way that kid gets away with Everything bc he's such the combo of tears, mouth, vulgarity, aggression,screaming,, & so now what? everyone that has Been letting it go on. Now the bully is being bullied & next phase? Well if he can eat at anytime... Y can't we? Idk I don't make up the rules. I just get chewed out by the switch ups of them that r forever contradicting & pointless. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining. Bc there is a lot of cool things about it. But somexs, I'm just in my head like what's the pt. Kids always screaming," do u think I'm stupid?" Tbh that sounds like I can of worms. But I mean, *it doesn't matter what I think. What matters is how u see yourself. But i do know I have to run these programs, & you have to work on them. If u didn't, they wouldn't be Your specific programs. So, if u apparently think they're pointless. .. I need to mark u down for knowing by telling me you know. And so everyone else will know. & Then u can just move on from these & into the next. But... U r Still having problems with these bc you're not answering, don't want to answer, & in your own words, u just don't know." He's always I want a new teacher! You're mean! That's not going to actually change your programs tho. Which only can mean 2 things. Which he does lie about everything ... Or 2) ppl really r lenient on him= they're not doing ish w/ him bc they're care more about being "cool"/"chill" w/ a KID.... Then to actually care how he'll ever benefit from any of this🙄 ... In his future. Before I even got to him today , he really just played this new co worker & had all kinds of toys all over the floor. Their limited to 3... I tried telling her but I'm sure she's overcompensating thinking cliques in short & how dare me not actually want to be the wannabe supervisor but actually look out? And then there's always the "adults" as collectives that r just drrrr. Don't really understand what it is w/ that kid. He never listens!... ____

@carychats37054 жыл бұрын
Hi Valerie ! I have heard of some companies that do offer a lower pay rate when they offer the training and assessment. Sometimes there might be a contract involved as well in which you have to work for the company for a certain amount of time after you complete your RBT certification before you can leave and work with other agencies. You would have to look into that and ask the companies to make sure what their policies are. I hope this helps 🤍.

Hey girl I’m supposed to start soon as an RBT , and I have to do my Competency assessment through zoom , and I’m wondering if you can explain what the competency assessment is and what I’m going to do during the assessment.
@carychats37054 жыл бұрын
Hi Julimar! On the BACB website you will find the competency assessment pdf that explains exactly what you are going to have to know/ demonstrate on your competency assessment. ☺️
@well20063 жыл бұрын
In the competency assessment, the supervisor would observe the technician a couple of sessions working with the client. You pretty much, implementing programs, while working with the client. For example, one of the programs could be asking for help? and you would prompt the client to ask for help. The supervisor(BCBA) would give you a score on your competency. It's a checklist for the supervisor to see where your skillset are. The purpose is to have the program manager(assistant) provide feedback to the technicians to develop their skills on areas that need improvement. Also, competency can help with your salary/ wage for the future. This is for an in-home setting from my experience. It varies from agencies though. Hopes this helps. I apologize for the paragraph. Definitely checks the BCBA website.

So, the shadowing and insurance stuff, is there assitance finding these opportunities? Like, this sounds like a job title I really want to be about. I have several years experience within addiction, a little training at counseling, and I have about 70 credits in Addiction Studies in college. I dont quite want to work in the addiciton field, Id perfer mental health or traditional pyschiatric. So Im not quite understanding what exactly a RBT does, what is the goal with each client? Im understanding, that youre saying an RBT helps to discipline a client, or helps keep the client on a path towards a goal, similar to recovery coach except a little involved and infividualized. I get I guess, but what settings do you find RBT's, can you qork in different settings, such as an RBT specializing in affiction, or mental health, or PTSD, etc??? This is all foregn to me, but I need to do this because its a wonderful opportunity and my mission in life is to postively impact the life of underprivledged populus ot children. Oh man, I feel all over the place but Im still trying to digest all this. Please hit me up
