We just purchased a brand new Can-Am Defender HD10 and this video is me reviewing it and driving it for the first time. Hopefully it helps you in your decision to purchase a CanAm SXS.

I just drove one this weekend. Went to a large motorsports store and got to compare the Kawasaki, Honda and CanAm side by side. Went there with my preference going towards the Kawasaki. Left with the preference of the CanAm. Smoother ride, little quieter, More spacious and quicker. I liked the way the seats lifted up because I have large dogs that insist they must ride. Currently have a Polaris and it is great as a utility vehicle, but for recreation I'm going to go with the Defender.

@@worldsokayesthunter really? That’s crazy. I haven’t had that problem at all! I have noticed that if I am rock crawling and let the belt cool down, say after a quick break on the trail, and get back into technical stuff that requires a fair amount of skinny pedal, I will smell a bit of burning belt but as long as it stays warm, it doesn’t have this problem. Have 30” maxxis liberties on it since new. Going to get bigger ones eventually but will definitely get some clutch work done before then to accomodate the extra rotating mass and larger diameter.

Very nice machine. I was looking at buying one back in 2017 but went with the commander instead. The commander has been a good machine once I dealt with the cab heat and noise. For me to set up a new defender similar to my commander it’s $45k. My wife is against that idea and I don’t blame her. That’s big money for a toy.

Hey WOH ~ I heard you say that you're normally a Ranger guy, so you would be the man to ask. How do you think that the ground clearance will compare between the Can-Am and a Ranger? We manage forest land on the side of a mountain -- and there's is lots of rocks to clear. Our old machine, which was an '09 Ranger 700 HD was the ground clearance king, back in the day, but I'm hoping to find a machine that has more clearance this time around. I've liked & subscribed, so please continue making the informative videos. 🤠
@worldsokayesthunter Жыл бұрын
they are so dang comparable on just about everything. However, i give the edge to the Ranger. it has better throttle response and feels stronger. i dont drive mine on the side of a mountain, but we have ditches and berms, etc and it handles them so well. i never bottom out. low gear and it will crawl over anything.
@timberwrightsvs480 Жыл бұрын
@@worldsokayesthunter Thank you for the reply, WOH. I may have missed it, but how do you think both brands would do with bigger wheels and tires than what they came with from their respective factories?
@worldsokayesthunter Жыл бұрын
@Timberwright Svs my recommendation is put 29s or maybe 30s on a ranger 1000 and call it a day. That's plenty of GC without really messing with the integrity of the drivetrain.
@timberwrightsvs480 Жыл бұрын
@@worldsokayesthunter Once again, thank you for the reply. The problem we had with our '09 Ranger 700HD was reliability. It started with exploding CV joints, which happened only a month or so after buying it - brand new. Next, we had a blown trans-axle and, after that, a broken rear sway bar. There were other minor issues -- i.e., steering wheel strut failure, cracked intake boot, defective fan, etc -- but the remarkable part is that the machine was principally operated by my [white knuckle driving] wife. In other words, the machine was operated by a nervous driver who wouldn't dream of abusing a vehicle. In short, it had a very cushy life and still ended up costing us a lot of time and money. As you're obviously a Ranger guy, I have no way of knowing how much time you've got behind the wheel of a Can-Am UTV, but I still wanted to ask you what you know about the reliability of a Defender versus a Ranger? Thanks again for your thoughts.
