I've had several soundbars and a surround sound package but it was only when I purchased an budget AVR and a pair of budget stereo speakers that I realised what I had been missing (stereo imaging, thumping base) besides going down this route one can always add to it overtime! subwoofer, surround speakers you could even get height speakers to get the full 'non-virtual' Dolby Atmos experience. Nowadays AVRs are so simple to setup, they even walk you through the process! "Remember movies are made up of 50% visuals and 50% audio and there are occasions when the audio out does the visuals"

@Louis Williams You have to be joking. No sound bar can compete with a 5.1 setup let alone a 7.1 setup.

@@___echo___ the cheap audio man channel might be a good starting point! One thing I will mention, if you have a small room then don't go for tower speakers, you would be better off going with standmount speakers (bookshelves) and if you're not satisfied with the low-end (bass) you could always add a sub or two! If you're looking for any more advice, click on the red dragon twice and if I'm able... I would be happy to help!

@@totalplonker824 thanks! its been a wild ride going down that rabbit hole, I had watched a few of his vids before, but I never glanced at speakers since I didnt have the space for them, and for some reason assumed they have worse sound quality than headphones. Since I was already set on buying speakers (for reasons related to me watching this video in the first place) I bought some used bookshelf speakers locally at a great price, now for ordering the rest of the setup :P
@totalplonker824
@totalplonker824 2 жыл бұрын
@@___echo___ so long as the speakers impedance don't drain your AVR, one can get away with using whatever sets of speakers one likes! For example; so long as all height speakers are the same as one another and both surrounds are the same as each other, one can mix sets of speakers but when it comes to the front stage (left, centre, right) one would be better off making sure... if not the same model at least the same brand, for the tonality... so when the sound sweeps from left to right, it all sounds the same! Have you thought about what kind of setup you're looking for? One could always start off with a 2.0 and you never know, in a couple of years time, you might end up with a 7.2, so basically it would be wise to choose an AVR which has more channels then one might think they need! 🤔

The often overlooked (due to originally being an LG store online only model in the US) LG B1 imho is the TV to go for, especially at 65inch. It's a few hundred cheaper than the C1 with very minor differences now due to the firmware updates. It's great for films & games, superb black levels even in my living room during the day, and due to "black Friday" deals it's now only £1,499. After just coming up to 2 weeks of use now: paired to the Samsung HW-Q800A Dolby Atmos up firing Soundbar (with wireless Sub & rear speakers) I find it this set up to be the best I've owned, providing an incredible gaming & cinema experience!

Everybody has different wants and needs for a TV. I only play games on a PC, so not interested in console options and I'm also light-sensitive and so would not want the very brightest screen. I'm happy if it has a good picture with great blacks and is a size suitable for the room. Though the ability to stream various content is a must these days as basic broadcast television is decidedly crap and repetitive. Helpful tips anyway, so thanks Tom.

Lmao, screen burn in will only happen after thousand of hours of the same program/HUD in videogames. Most OLEDs today also automatically dim their entire screen after so many hours of use to combat the effects of burn in, but anyone who doesn't sit in front of the TV watching the same program every day for multiple years will not have any issues with burn in in current OLEDs.

Upgraded few week ago. Started with LG NANO88 50" but was disapointed by bad uniformity / white spots in dark scenes (there was an obviouse issue with the panel). Than I found an incredible deal on LG Oled B1 55" for 870€ (only 200€ more expensive than 50" LCD what is insane) so I did not bothered to go for C1 which was/is around 1200€ after discount due to my original budget ±700€. I'm extremely satisfied with it and would not change as it is perfect for this price. Oh and the main point to upgrade was gaming: 120Hrz, VRR, ALLM, HDRs, high pixel response time + one of the lowest input lag in all today's TVs.

@@redx11x I find that hard to believe. A simple google search of oled stutter brings up copious amounts of people complaining about it. It’s not an arguable thing really since it’s a OLED technology fact. They have instant pixel response time which causes frames to hold on longer so when a camera pan happens it causes stuttering. Obviously some are more oblivious to it or more susceptible to it (like me) so I envy those that don’t. Or they use motion interpolation settings or only play 60+FPS gaming

One thing that i'll say is that for screen size you want to get the biggest size(unless it literally does not fit) cause after some time you start thinking that the tv is smaller and with a smaller screen it is more noticeable. Also nowadays, tvs don't put that much strain on your eyes when you sit close to them with bigger screen sizes like our parents said for older tvs (around 2005+).

I’m currently watching a Panasonic TX58AX802 which I purchased in 2014. It’s a 58 inch 4K IPS screen which at the time of purchase was the pinnacle of the Panasonic range. Even though it’s technology is dated, I sincerely think it can hold it’s own against modern premium sets. Unfortunately, it’s faulty and often persistently blinks when you take it out of standby. A trustworthy friend of mine who works in the hifi and home theatre industry assures me I’m better off updating, rather than repairing. I’ve therefore ordered the Panasonic TX65JZ1500 an 65 inch 4K OLED panel, which interestingly enough will cost me far less than my original 58 inch set. My trusty friend steered me away from the much pricier TX65JZ2000 which he said only benefitted from a superior audio performance. As I already have built a premium hifi system, this would negate the need for on board superior audio. If I get 8 years trouble service from this new, more cost effective set, I’ll be a happy chappy! I guess in 8 years time, panel technology will have changed so drastically it’ll be time for another update. I shall look forward to your videos in 8 years time and your buying advice.

It's interesting that "Filmmaker" mode is mentioned in reference to the original vision of the creator(s). The LG being shown on the screen during that bit supports Dolby Vison. However, there is no Filmmaker mode on LG OLEDs for Dolby Vision content. So, what does that mean? It means that if you do end up getting an LG OLED, absolutely make sure you go through the settings so you can get the most from your TV.

I bought my 55 LG E9 OLED in April before the CX was released. Now the E9 launch price was £2799, but mine cost me £1499 which is a huge saving. Black Friday isn’t always the best time to buy a new TV and I wish people showed a little more patience like I did. I would suggest to people who are susceptible to motion stutter to not buy an LG oled unless the really improved their motion handling and processing. Bought a cx and c1 for my bedroom and living room and feel like I’ve wasted a bunch of money. Gaming on 60fps or more is good and picture quality is good too but the stutter these TVs have is abysmal. Moves/tvshows/anime and 30fps gaming is damn near unwatchable/playable imo on these TVs. I heard Sony is suppose to be a lot better at motion handling but OLED has instant pixel response time which causes frames to hold on longer than usual causing stutter on panning scenes and lower frame rate content. Hopefully micro LED is better

They don't seem to be a big brand anymore. They are barely reviewed or promoted (which is kind of attracting me more). And also later will be getting powered bookshelf speakers with a matching subwoofer instead of wasting money on a soundbar which will have inferior drivers, a larger footprint, takes up a precious HDMI port, and duplicates a lot of the features (streaming, virtual surround, etc) already on the TV.
