Yeah, I'm not gonna lie I have to force myself to pull the seahorse palette out. Idk, just doesn't do it for me. Not enough pigment. It made me realize I don't like topper shades. I only want rich shiny colours. Definitely a regret of mine. Even with the 20% coupon at launch it isn't worth it. Why on earth would they put two of the almost exact shades next to each other. not to mention the top row is also very similar. ugh

I’m so glad I didn’t jump on this palette. Granted it’s way too expensive to just mindlessly purchase and the color story did not pull me in. It felt a little repetitive from the start and when I saw that like half of it is not as sparkly as their promo reels, that sealed the decision for me. I saw another review before this one and I agree with you from the other person's swatches. While gorgeous, I don't think it's special enough for that price. It claims to be multichromes, but I see mostly soft duochromes. I hope they release some more reasonably priced items as the last two releases were a little up there. I love a good "long-winded" review! We need more of these. I keep seeing more and more content creators (on YT & IG) that are showing Indie brand's products more for the brands and less for the consumers. And it becomes really frustrating as a consumer when people are holding back so much or not wanting to show swatch comparisons. When in reality, if the brand has a good quality product for a good price - they shouldn't be upset about comparisons, but actually welcome them. I am not sure what's going on with Adept lately as a brand... some of their business decisions baffle me. And you pointed some out in the video. But since that Mystery Box debacle 😬 I just keep seeing some odd decisions. On the way they are marketing, building their palettes, doing their releases, prices, etc. But they've been losing me lately with some of these things and I know I'm not alone in that 🤷‍♀️ ... hope they get back to making makeup I'm interested in 🫣

I usually like adept palettes but I was not feeling this one. Adept’s fatal flaw imo is that they usually have a couple of similar shades in their palettes and in this one so many look alike. Not for $140! And is it just me or is the title multichrome used very loosely these days 😅, a few of these look only single-chrome to me 😂.

Absolutely agree! Some of these brands are calling shadows "multichromes" when they are at best a duochrome. That significantly effects the price. Just saw this with Clionadh too in their recent palette, where one of the best shades is basically an exact dupe for a duochrome that Devinah just released for $8 😒

Yeah everything is a multi chrome according to marketing. It's quite misleading and also a shady biz practice since they know they can upcharge for multis. There's nothing wrong with duochromes or just really nice simple shimmers but then they cant up the price if they were being honest

I remember years ago, when Aromaleigh came out with the first multichromes I'd ever seen, they were loose shadows with promo pics taken in ideal lighting conditions. They were reviewed terribly by the indie makeup bloggers I followed at the time for a kind of false advertising. I honestly feel like those promo pics from that old launch were much more honest and true to life than the swatch video Adept has put out for this. Everyone is being very polite about this palette, but if I'd paid that much money for this I would be ropeable. It honestly looks like an attempt to water down the multichrome pigments in the formula so it's more affordable to produce, but still technically call it a multichrome so the premium price can be charged. And the twin blue shades is a real head scratcher decision lol.

Milly I'm so sorry you are disappointed in this palette. This is hands down my favorite adept palette ! I will say I could totally do without the middle row, but rows 1 and 3 are stunning imo! I'm sure I have some dupes within my collection but I really love the packaging and the concept as well. Yes those two shadows are extremely similar! But I am happy with my purchase

I'm so glad you did a review on these and pointed out some flaws and inconsistensies. I once had the Plaine Jane Remastered from Adept, and I don't know, I just didn't like it as much as all my other indie brands, all of the multichromes and shimmers had a green tint and they were just kinda underwhelming. Ended up reselling it. This helps me understand my palette wasn't just a dud, but rather that Adept is just not for me with what they do. I'd rather go buy some Devinah, TM, Clionadh or Shine by SD.

I think the big brain move would to have released a 6-12 pan empty luxe palette and done it as a “build your own palette” launch because so many of these shades are gorgeous and indie collectors would want some to fill in gaps in their collection, but then people could also spend like $60-75 on a palette they love full of these multichromes with as much overlap in color story as they want

I skipped on this palette. But I skip on most adept launches as I’m just not drawn to them for some reason. I do like the 2 cream shades in the highlighter palette though. If the palette was just those 2 shades or if they were sold singly then I’d probably pick those up.

I got this palette on the early launch because I love all my adept palettes and I was SO disappointed. even with a discount I still paid the full price because of customs and there's just no way it's worth that much. some of these shades are dry, some are too similar and the shifts are not intense at all. very very disappointed. I agree with you that this could have been a 9 pan, no similarities between shades and lower cost, it would have made more sense.

Their swarches are also multi layered already. So basically its not a single pass of the fingure. They film it with a pass over probably 4 passes under the color already . Thats why they look so opaque. I can tell they are swatching there is already a layer there . You understand? I see this on all brands. Ot looks like they are swatching it with one pass but in reality they aleeady have multiple passes in the swatched later. Natash D. Even does it. Its quite unfair and misleading to the consumer.

I have the plain Jane palette and that was disappointing to me. Aside from the special shades in Pat McGrath palettes, this was my introduction to multichromes and my first indie chrome palette. I really only like and use 3-4 shades. The 2 light purple shades not only look identical but they both arrived hard-panned. I’ve tried every technique (wet,dry,brush,finger) and primer/glue combo and they’re like the sheer topper of a topper. So as you were critiquing this one I was nodding like yep yep exactly 😅. Just not a brand I’d buy from again unfortunately

I haven’t watched the video yet, but I’m seeing that you weren’t totally impressed. I’m enjoying mine, but I don’t have the collection that you do, so maybe that’s part of it. I haven’t used all the shades, but the ones I’ve used and swatched have been amazing. I do think some shades are more subdued, but some are very pigmented ; or were in my experience. I also think they are closer to duochromes, not really Multis. I only paid $112 with the discount code, so that made it less painful. I didn’t buy Ketracel, and I can see not being needing both for sure. This is my 5th adept palette. ❤❤

After finishing the video, I do agree with a lot of your points. I was really looking forward to this palette from the moment it was teased, and some of the shades are a little unimpressive, you are right. I’m not as impressed with this, as I was with their HA collab and Minka, and how I suspect I’ll feel about ninhydrin. Soft coral and and pontoh are the only shades I’ve used on my eyes. And they did perform really nicely. But, I suspect I will be less impressed if I go to use one of the more toppery shades. And one of those blues definitely could have been edited out. It’s not a perfect palette, but I don’t regret purchasing it, as of now ❤

Thank you for making this video! I’m such an impulse buyer when it comes to chrome shadows as I get mesmerized! That said if I take a moment to breathe I have almost all of Davinah Cosmetics Palettes which I believe are far superior and have almost if not all the colors that are created whether multi chrome, duo chrome, sparkle, shimmer, etc…so as dazzled as I was with Seahorse and Ketracel…I don’t need them especially since I have several rainbow compacts from several companies and I saved a boat load of $$$!!!xoxoxo

I'm not surprised by your reaction, I think that apart from the performance the biggest issue with this palette is that all the shadows are pretty forggetable, like if you just swatch one shade, I have no idea which one of them is it, compared for example to Terra moons shadows where you can exactly tell by one swatch or eyelook the name of the shade because they are that special, these look like bunch of random variations of the same shade during development with a little different pigment mixed in each one , definitely not worth of the price and not what I would expect from Adept

I feel like this palette will get remastered in a few months. I know the Plain Jane palette had three versions, and I own the Anniversary edition along with the newest version of the Ninhydrin which I believe was changed over too (some shades and formula) I really hope they take feedback and improve on the formulas but sucks for anyone that already bought it. As a Canadian shopper it’s an absolute no for me ($190 CDN before taxes/duties are even taken into account)

Indie singles look much brighter than Seahorse shades. But each Seahorse shade costs less than 10 dollars. Also I think nobody would buy this palette full price. It's at least 10% off with a blogger's affiliate code which makes it 8,5$/shade. Clionadh, Devinah Touch of Glam and others cost more I guess. Not sure as I don't have them. So for the price per shade they are quite pretty. Of course buying 5 singles that you would really love from another brand would make more sense. But I just couldn't resist when I saw thus palette and first swatches 😅

I want opaque, foil with NO GLITTER MIGRATION...the last thing i need is glitter in my pores OR my eyes!! Danessa Myrick Lightworks and Cozette has about the only formula that STAYS PUT and is opaque and foil like..I am in the process of looking at Eisley Reign and Glossgods..so who knows..i did get a iridescent beauty from Clionadh. The concept and theme of this palette are so appealing but, damn, those are some 2010s-looking iridescents 😐 Some of these shades look so similar to eachother that it's is like they kept two lab samples for some shades. $140 is so much money to have repeat shades, and so much money anyway! I am confused why prices have increased so much with some US brands? Poland's inflation is 30% and I think that is 6 times US inflation rate right now but prices have not increased as much. Anyway, those cream highlighters look really beautiful and it would make more sense if they were sold separately to striped shades.

PSA for anyone who hasn’t ordered yet: my eyeshadows have a chemical smell to them. Not the palette itself but the actual eyeshadow pans. I contacted Adept and they insist it’s the upcycled materials but I have 5 other previous palettes that don’t have a chemical smell. So, buy at your own risk..

Yep... also underwhelmed 😬 I knew you'd tell it like it is. I'm not filming with it. Not worth the time and energy. I wouldn't be so bitter if I hadn't paid an arm and a leg for this palette. Very disappointing especially when I know what they're capable of.

I have almost all the original Adept palettes when they were made in USA. Now they are made in China different and I can’t justify that price. Seems like a cash grab. I bought Clionadh Sea Treasues palette instead. It’s the only brand for me for this type of shadow

Adept's history with getting defensive to constructive criticism and the ableism debacle has left a bad taste in my mouth. They have pretty palettes but this definitely doesn't look worth $140 to me. Thank you for the honest and thorough review.

i don't know why adept won't go back to the formulas they used in the heather austin palette and house of el palette. shit even the first amunet nu was better than this. ADEPT STOP IT WITH THIS THIN SMOOTH NOT SHINY AND SHIFTY FORMULA YOU'RE DOING. ITS BAD.

Yesss I was so disappointed with inspired too cause it was nothing like house of el, house of El and heather austin are amazing but I really don’t like this smooth thin private labeled type of formula in their newer palettes
