I bought my Vostoks pre Ukraine war, they have been extremely useful and survived a lot of punishment. Extremely well made. I think its stupid to think you are supporting the Russian war by wearing these. They are not supplying the Russian military and have no control over what their politicians decide.

Yup. Totally agreed with you. Let's just enjoy the watches. Thanks for watching 😎

The engraving on the case is a map of the Antarctic, and the 1958 celebrates the year of the Soviet expedition to explore this polar region. The 24 hour dial is best suited for somebody working in areas with limited or no daylight. The full lume version is probably the best if you intend to go to polar regions.

It looks like Vistok improved on the bands they did use. Their 'leather', but again, this looks better. I have scuba dude amphibian and komanderskie(s). They have their place in my collection.

That leather strap is mine. Not from Vostok. Anyways, thanks for watching 😎

Maybe supporting the Russian economy isn't the best idea these days...?

I agree 👍

This is so hypocritical. When the US invaded Afghanistan for 20 years and killed 1 million people was it a bad idea to support American economy and buy Timex? The flieger watches everyone fawns over from IWC and Laco and Stowa were literally built for the Nazis. And most watch parts come from China even in Swiss watches, so you're also supporting their economy and their concentration camps, and all. And the list goes on and on and on and on

How many communist chinese products are you guys buying? Remind me again whose spy ballons are floating over the US? Where did the trouble come from that caused the world to lock down? Stop being sheep.

Thinking your watch purchase is somehow helping Russia in any meaningful way belies a wild amount of self-importance.

I had two Vostok watches. When Russia invaded Ukraine, I threw them both out. I will not wear watches with Russian military origin on my wrist. Just saying.
@fark69 Жыл бұрын
Would you throw out a Citizen Blue Angels watch? Or a Bulova (they made watches for the US military who invaded two sovereign nations for the past 20 years and killed millions of civilians in the process? Let's not get started on the origins of the Flieger watch and who IWC made watches for....

I would suggest you also throw out any American made watches as well, considering that America has been involved in numerous invasions. At least 4.5 million civilians were killed in the war on terror. My country of origin, Pakistan, had thousands of innocents killed with drone bombings. It doesn't affect me buying watches.
@bim23885 Жыл бұрын
Going by your judgment, you can put your Timex pieces in the bin as well. The politicians in that great democratic country took similar decisions in the last 20-30 years. They make Russia's actions look like child's play compared to what US did to countless sovereign countries around the world for no f*g reason!...

I'll never understand how Vostoks - pure Russian garbage - became popular.

Perhaps because many people are able to be objective about price-to-quality on tool watches instead of judging based on emotional jingoism.
