I've lived full-time in an R.V. park for 9 years. I bought a used 5th wheel, which I highly recommend first timers to do. You don't need a brand new one off the bat. On my unit, I have 2 grey, 1 black tank, but only one hose to the sewer. I recommend getting a heated water hose if you are camping in cold weather. Skirting the unit is a must especially in cold weather. Will help keep your unit warmer during the winter. I live in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado at 9,000 feet next to National Forest. I'm also 78 years old and love where i'm at and love living in my unit.

@@FloridaProud7684 I was the same way years ago. Just takes practice. Also, if you are look at a pull behind, I strongly suggest the addition of sway control bars. They make your vehicle and trailer as one unit and eliminates the sway. 5th wheels and goosenecks don't have the sway problem as pull behinds. I don't travel in mine. I'm setup in a full-time park. If you want to do that, then you can always have someone move the trailer for you, plus they, and the park, will hook you up and level you. I adore the owner and workers at the park I'm at. Best of luck to you. Just Do It! 🤗❤

Side-effects of full-time RVing : banks reject you because you don't have a perm. residential address, getting doctor's appointments when they are booked months out, getting a CCDW license, ignorant people/companies refusing service because you don't have a full-time regular residence, and other issues.

My wife and I are half timers. We work seasonal jobs in the mid-west. She gets paid houly, I get an annual salary. Although I only work 8-9 months a year, it's over 2500 hours in that time. This is our first season out, and we are loving it. We've been to 4 sites in 50 days and haven't had to pay for any of them. Thanks to our extended friends and family network and most of them having septic tanks. Also, our 20' TT can fit in a residential driveway, no problem.

What most people tend to ignore is what happens when you’re done - where do you go? Can you afford to buy a place or are you stuck in rentals for the rest if your life. Or, you do F/T long enough to either need a new, better RV, or decide to change the style of RV - can you afford to do so? Lot of people get into this upside down, decide lifestyle is not for them, and lose it all.

There are 3 classes of RVs, depending on their size, weight, and amenities. However, you don't have to tow them. Those are campers. RVs are motorized and can be driven, and there are more taxes for RVs than campers, depending on the state.

The opening was rather funny. I guess people are going into this expecting that they can just move in to an RV and live forever “camping,” over simply trading in your house for an RV. I’m just now getting into this since I’m closing in on retirement from active duty. My biggest concern is my pup. I’m thinking about a generator and two a/c units to ensure she’s fine while I’m at work. Obviously I’d board her while I’m out of town, but should the a/c go out while I’m gone for a few hours, I want her to be okay.
@HappinessTravelz
@HappinessTravelz 9 ай бұрын
Thank you and thanks for your service! Yes some people do think they can move into a rv and it's just one big always great camping trip and it's not, at all lol.. But it can work out great for the right people. We live and travel fulltime in our RV and have pets and have never had any issues . But we have also not left them alone with no heat or cooling for more than a couple hrs when out exploring things they can't go with. But we do have an inverter that can run things if we need to for several hrs at a time. Would be a little harder if they were left all day with no shore power and only a generator. But every situation is different and there probably is some way to make it work. Best of luck on your retirement, thanks again for your service and thanks for watching 👍
@billyhawkins721

@@HappinessTravelz appreciate the insight! Almost all military bases have camp sites with full connections. I’m not worried about the power supply as much as I am worried about the a/c unit itself. The unit I bought only has one a/c and I did buy an inverter as well for a back up. I’m considering some sorta plug and play a/c unit from Lowe’s as a backup. Not sure if I can figure out a way to have the inverter trip on once the thermostat reaches a certain temp but I’ll see what I can rig up.

Oh my. This scares me! They’re are two, maybe 3, of us who have always longed to RV for a year or two. All 3 of us are females and have been in health care - ICU and anesthesia. But we’re all retired now and patients in trouble are not the same as RVs in trouble. None of us come from “handy” parents or spouses. Are we doomed before we start? I’d like to see this extraordinary country of ours before I launch out touring other countries. I suppose it’s too late to learn what is needed, right. Oh geez. I don’t know what to do.

If I am wanting to do this in a 40ft camper at my parents property how much would I expect electricity to be?
@HappinessTravelz
@HappinessTravelz 10 ай бұрын
All depends on where you live. Could be $100 could be $400 .. we have only stayed at one rv park that charged electricity separately and we were paying about $130 month. But I read posts where people are saying there paying $400 a month. So it varies. Good luck! Thanks for watching 👍

You do know that everyone is different and variables that your video that copies like 400 others. We full timed for 13 yrs, and then bought a 2300 sq ft house in the state with the best houses prices out west, and the house cost me almost double monthly, maybe a little more sometimes. But you tube is showing 10 other videos exactly like yours, you tube is killing the rv lifestyle.

Im being priced out of where i live now and everywhere else i look is too expensive, im on disability and my girlfriend works part time, neither of us drive, but moving into an RV while finacing it is more affordable then rent right now. If i could get any tips that would help or anything else that would be great. Edit i live in calgary Alberta so if you know of any cheap rv lots in the south.

How do you clean out the poop chute?
@Lauren-vd4qe
@Lauren-vd4qe 4 ай бұрын
u empty the black tank (poop) first, then empty the grey tank (dish water etc) next, which rinses out the hose just fine.

He doesn't know jack ! If you leave a hose open on your black tank going to the sewer system you will have a poop paramid growing in your black tank.

Maybe watch more videos before you get a camper to live in. It's not easy and you will have plenty of problems.

It's not bad. It's what you make of it. We are still in ours now over 3.5 years saving money and preparing for our next big adventure. But yes house prices can be ridiculous. Good luck and thanks for watching 👍

They are all junk, so if you think your in good shape buying a new one you are wrong! They are all junk right out of the dealers lot. Build your own on a heavy duty trailer. Then you know what you have.
