These police officers across the country aren’t trained to handle people with mental health disabilities. This cop made a strong accusation against a person who clearly show he was not a posing a threat or if the police was properly trained he would have known to call for a mental health professional to assist him on the scene. Now these assaults will continue due to a lack of awareness and training.

Where is the gas station’s video inside and outside the station? Has the gas station’s video been edited? Where is the 911 call? The caller most likely said that the veteran was high on something, however, police officers know that elderly people could have Alzheimer or dementia. Just the age of the office compared to the age of the elderly man shows a lack of respect to the aged. These police are cowardly officers with no heart. This is what they do alone with beating handcuffed people. They want to see and smell the blood of defenseless people that are not a threat. It is important to train police officers to recognize individuals with psychiatric and neurological disorders. My late wife had early onset Parkinsons Disease and severe hypoglycemia. As a result of her illness her gait was disturbed. In addition to her disturbed gait, she had obvious hand and head tremors. Instead of asking her if she was in need of assistance, they questioned her on the street for over an hour. Not once during this encounter did the police ask her about her health or permit her to explain her medical issues.
