Watching this from my home in the Scottish highlands on a wet and windy night. Brilliant video and am going to order a replacement crystal right now and a kit so I can make my old but much loved watch look nice and shiny! Thank you so much x

I followed your video instructions and I just finished changing the crystal in my Turtle to a double dome from Crystal Times! There was no pop putting the new crystal in, but I rotated it like the video to ensure it was friction fitted properly. I put the cover and crown back in and cold\hot water tested it for leaks. All good. It looks great and really changes the watch. It was running 12 seconds slow a day so I also too care of that by making a very small adjustment to the timer pointer. Thanks for the help!

As a watch repair myself you did a good job popping in the crystal. I’m gonna give you a free tip. That’s gonna save you a lot of money in trouble when you press the crystal in put a plastic bag between the dye and the crystal just for a little added layer of protection snd from scratches. It’s like a condom, There’s no guarantee, but it helps to have.

It's funny but I bet if Seiko watches came with dome crystals from the factory people would be switching them out with flat ones and would be saying "How cool this flat crystal is!"

The people that would be swapping to the flat crystal are those that would not be swapping if it had come with the flat crystal to begin with. The people that would make this swap wouldn’t be swapping crystals if it came with this one to begin with.

Great vid. Just wondering, I received a case recently where the crystal was not evenly installed. Do I have to remove it and reinstall it? Or can I just manipulate it into a level position? And would I need a press to do so? Or could I manage this without a special tool? Any advice would be appreciated.

Fantastic instructions. What I enjoyed the most is you managed to include minor details where most tend to leave out such as the direction of taking out the crystal and putting in the crystal. You also mentioned how not to damage the chapter ring by selecting the correct die size. Wish me luck. I will be attempting on my Seiko SNK789 and on Orient Mako 2.

Great video. I like the blue color - where did you get the blue double-domed sapphire lens? I have an Invicta 8926OB Pro Diver that has stood the wear well over the last five years, but it's time to replace the mineral crystal with something tougher. (Do you have a good source for the lens measurement for me?) I'm also going to install a ceramic insert in the bezel - mine is pretty beat up. Other than that, it still keeps great time.

For beginners watching this old tutorial, you should maybe make a new one using a screwing press instead of the lever press... You are now using a very high quality press and I think good to guide the beginners directly to a screwing press... of course a more affordable one than the press you are now using, but better to buy it directly instead of the very bad lever press ;-)

I purchased the CT037CIS (double domed with extra height). During the crystal press-in, I did not hear the snapping/seating noise. As i'm not very experienced, I'm not 100% sure the crystal is seated properly. Is there a way to confirm whether or not the crystal is seated properly? Please help, thanks again

Great videos. Keep up the good work. I have a question for you, if I may. I have an Invicta model #0873 that I am trying to change the band on. On each lug there two spring bars. I am having the hardest time trying to remove them. When I attempt to remove the second one of the two, the first one snaps back in place. The band is very thick and rigid at the lug area and is hard to move. Any suggestions where I might be able to remove both spring bars at the same time from the same side? Thanks for your help.
@LumeShot5 жыл бұрын
Search up Bergeon spring bar removal tweezers on google. This is probably the best option for removing both ends of the spring bars at once. I use this tool to chance out the straps on my Rolex's as it minimizes the risk of the spring bar slipping out and scratching the lugs. It's a little expensive but worth the investment.

Tip to remove crystal. Use a new roll of electric tape as the bottom die or on top of bottom die to allow space for crystal to push out. IMPORTANT!! I highly suggest removing bezel to prevent possibility of crystal edge catching the lip of the bezel insert. Ceramic inserts will just crack if they get friction with crystal.

I can not for the life of me get the crystal back in. I'm pressing as hard as possible and it just won't budge. At best I can get one section of it in. Any tips?
@LumeShot5 жыл бұрын
Without the crystal press it can be difficult to get the crystal in. Even with the tool, the crystal can also be seated crooked; a downside to the more affordable crystal press. For such reasons, I invested in a properly calibrated crystal press to make sure crystals are seated evenly. My best advice would be to slowly push in the crystal little by little while rotating the crystal so that the uneven sides are minimized.
