Have you tried one of those high chairs for dogs where the dog sits up straight so they don't aspirate? It works.

Yes, that is a Bailey Chair and we used one for a French Bulldog that we rescued a couple of years ago. The Bailey Chair is designed for dogs that have Megaesophagus. Dougal does not have this condition (where the esophagus collapses in). To put a dog in a Bailey Chair that does not have Megaesophagus is risking doing damage to their vertabrae and spinal cord. The French Bulldog needed the Bailey Chair to eat and get the food to go down, but then his vertabrae began to have disc compression as a result and he needed major back surgery. Dougal has a raised dog dish for water and food to help reduce the chances for aspiration. How old is he? I have an older dog too with bad teeth but the vets always tell us it's better to not get his teeth done cus his age?? :c (yet still charge us for doing all the predental tests lol...)
